How about a divider down the center of the grille and run two pieces at 45 degree angles so they make repeated Vs all the way down.

I've been thinking of some sort of wire mesh too, but who knows. I hear ya on the factory type grill, but since the shape of the opening is so multi-dimensional, I dont know if I could make it work. Plus... they are so brittle.
The grill is pretty much complete at this point.
Its 3/8" 304 SS tubing that I had left over from my transmission cooler and fuel lines I built last winter. Any guesses how many feet of tubing it took to build this grill?

Man, that grill is slick. You've either got way too much energy, or way too much time on your hands... most likely both... 
Im a dink. Dual income, no kids. I work 4-10's so I have 3 day weekends to do whatever I want. (Gonna have to take some time out to wine and dine the little lady pretty soon though)
Energy? Not really, I'm pretty lazy after work, but I'm pretty driven to challenge myself when I comes to fabrication. I love learning new ways to make things! If I have an idea, or envision something I want to try, I generally try it. The more I do that, the better I get at it, the higher my success rate is. Dont tell anyone, but I already want to make a new grill.

what is a gin pole?
It's like a temporary crane boom. I used to have one that fit over a trailer ball mount with chains that angled back to the bed sides to hold it straight and angled up however I needed. I used it for pulling cabs and beds, motors, all sorts of handy stuff out where you can't use a shop crane (aka cherry picker).
3 of 4 hood panels roughed in. I only had enough diamond plate to make three of the panels, so I flipped the one over the master cylinder so it will match the passenger side when I make it out of regular 3/16" alum.

dude, if you could accentuate the angles on the hood plates just a little bit more, you might be able to get a Batman Begins Batmobile thing going on. Thats the first thing that popped into my head when I saw the pic with the first 4 panels. everyone seems to want nice sweeping curves etc of factory body lines... or blingin aftermarket fiberglass crap.... why not buck the trend and go all angular?

A bit of how to on making and mounting custom body panels.
The first step I normally take is to lay a piece of posterboard over the area I intend to panel. I then roughly sketch the shape of the panel onto the poster board and cut out with scissors. I keep trimming until the lines of the poster match the lines of the tubing (or whatever its going to mount to) and will set at the right distance from the tubes. (if the panel is going to be formed, make sure you allow enough material to account for the forming.
