Two 86 F350 4x4s Mayo & Ketchup

So I stumbled into another one.
86, 460, auto, hi pinion 4.10 60 etc
42k miles, was a plow truck for Ball Ind parking lot. Not sure what I'm going to do with it but the price was to good to pass up.
It has @sweetk30. favorite plow setup.

@Capt Ron what size blade ?

i use to run a 8ft on my k30 but last year i rebuilt a 9ft and LOVE it so much better . . . thats sure a solid 4x4 work / plow truck there .

Sweet truck! Regular bed or a dump setup? I really need a bullnose ford some day.
LOL, I wasn't sure until it got delivered an hour ago. No dump, regular flat bed. The seller said he would deliver it from Nederland {about 50 miles into the mountains} for $50.00. Money well spent as far as I'm concerned.

Sadly no blade but we have at least one Fisher blade at work the boss man will give me. Not sure of the size though.

I've pumped concrete at Ball.

They had a heaving problem and the floor was pushing up in spots...

Well we poured a bunch of new beam pads and they cut out old piers and installed a bunch of steel beam supports. It was odd crawling around under the building after they excavated under the slab...

Make sure and measure the width of the 2 ears were it clips in to the truck side frame . There is light duty 7ft 6in down and hd 8ft and up . Yes a welder can fix anything tho .

Short version, the red one is now yard driveable.

So, the license plates on the red truck [henceforth known as "Ketchup"] expired in 08.
The fuel smelled just as old.

I pulled the plugs and misted some Marvel oil Wednesday night. I threw a battery in yesterday and after making sure it would crank over changed the oil and filter. It fired off on starting fluid so things were looking good.
Today I rigged up a temporary fuel tank and electric pump and it started almost too fast. A quick check to make sure the transmission worked [it does] but as expected the carb was a leaker. I actually had another carb that I had forgotten about when I had Zoomad rebuild the one on the white truck [henceforth known as "Mayo"] so on it went.

Drive time......
Transfer case and hubs work great, has a small rear main leak {I'm betting that does not self fix} none of the gauges or the headlights work but wipers, radio and dome light do so all in all things are looking good.

2 questions for those still reading.
Amazon has about a half dozen cheepy HEI style distributors for 460s. Like $50 and $60 cheep, can these be any good?
Also what is up with having a track rod on the front suspension? Massive leafs really need more location help?

Why Ford used track bars on those trucks and the later leaf sprung stupid dooties is beyond me. Leafs do a pretty good job controlling lateral movement but somebody must have felt they had a problem and designed the "fix" for it.

Good to hear it's running at least. What's the plan for ketchup? Get it running and flip?

In theory I guess the fuel system is no more complicated than a tbi square truck with dual tanks, but the plastic lines, inertia switch and general lack of knowledge/patience with this fuel system has me trying to figure out a K.I.S.S system.
I will probably pull the bed as it needs all new wood anyway, buy new pumps, clean out the tanks and lines and get it all put back to OEM in my spare time that I don't have. Mayo still needs the same fuel system makeover as well. So times 2:doah:

I would sell it right now {not trying} but in the interim I will continue to tinker/fix up, throw a plow on it and push some snow.

The 19 year old in me wants to yank BOTH smog pumps and all the smog crap, throw on some Mad Dog fender well headers with dual exhaust and annoy the neighbors.

All solid plans. I know squat about the ferd market, how desirable are these? Or are these swap materials for somebody that wants to upgrade an F250 with the crappy TTB front end?

I hate to admit, but my first experience driving a small tow truck was in an '86 F350 4x4 with a 460, 4 speed and a pair of glass packs. Combined with a Holmes Pro-tech II, it was a pretty tough "little " truck. It was the first truck that made me think good about the blue oval brand. I don't care for many after the mid nineties though.
