I consider my K5 one of the nicest also around here

[/ QUOTE ]

mine will definitely be better than yours. sure, it may not have cab corners, or much of a bed floor to speak of. it will get its fair share of trail rash, i'm sure. chrome and straight body panels dont get you home, a well thought out drivetrain does. another thing that will put my truck ahead of yours, i will have built it with my own two hands. you cant say the same for yours.

[/ QUOTE ]
Sounds like your building a weekend wheeler to me, not a nice truck. /forums/images/graemlins/dunno.gif I think my drivetrain is planned out pretty good, has never failed. /forums/images/graemlins/whistling.gif No, chrome and strait body panels don't get you home but it keeps it from being a POS and actually something nice and enjoyable to drive on a daily basis.

I have built my K5 from the ground up with my own bloody, sweaty hands. Besides the help of my GF's dad on the motor build (which we did, not a crate motor) and a good buddy of mine that has helped with 6 axle swaps, 1 motor swap, suspension &body lift add ons. Buddy, you are going to have to do a lot of wrenching to catch up. /forums/images/graemlins/deal.gif

my dad can kick your dads A$$ /forums/images/graemlins/rotfl.gif

j/k

I see both points, being someone that made a "decent" or "pretty" truck I can see the desire to have one, but on the same level I want to run the damn thing into a wall and fix it back up 50 times over. Seems building and seeing progress are the best part sometimes. And I agree that it take two trucks, well maby 3, crap 4 to have what you want...

1 hardcore blazer..
1 Blingin blazer to take the girls in
1 tow rig, crew cab /forums/images/graemlins/whistling.gif
and a sweet 66-67 chevy 2

oh and a big barn with a lift..no wait.. 2 lifts, drive though double doors front and rear, and and and /forums/images/graemlins/thinking.gif

differnet strokes for different folks, , now go buff out your paint and polish those rims /forums/images/graemlins/waytogo.gif

with only being able to afford 1 vehicle, that having something nice and cherried out that I had to drive everyday was much more important than enjoying a beate

[/ QUOTE ]

With all the money you spent on your truck you could have a one ton beat to crap trail rig and a nice daily driver too. Then you wouldn't have that "I don't wheel because shining my rims after is a pain" problem that ties into your "I don't want to use a truck for what it was made for" and "BRIGHTER SHINE, TALLE LIFT, WIDER RIM" complex

Maybe you spilled a gatorade?

I like that pic, "I wan't innnnnnnn" like a little kid hanging off the door......

Depends on your definition of, "nice." I personally think that there are a number of rigs on here that are, "nice." But all have 1 ton gear, long travel suspensions, Swampers on steel wheels, (some with beadlocks) lockers, armor, etc.

Nice is what you make of it. There are many nice rigs on this site. Unfortunately, I don't think yours is one of them. /forums/images/graemlins/frown.gif Sorry, but I just don't see what is appealing about yours at all.

now I can go hang with the superpoopers and new bling bling hd's and tell them my truck is nicer /forums/images/graemlins/thumb.gif /forums/images/graemlins/peace.gif

I would tow my nice truck with a cummins though /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif

I disagree, ask some of these guys how much they have in their hardcore beaters. I couldn't build a good trail worthy beater and have my blazer the way it is for less than $17K. And no, a Honda as a "nice" DD would not work. Has to be a chevy, more than 1/2ton, welds, lifted, clean, cherried out truck.

please dont ask, I asm going to go cry now, considering I still dont have coil overs, 42's and 4 linked suspension it will only get worse, it just takes time. I am glad to have a girl who does not suck me dry.

edit..

she does not suck me dry of money /forums/images/graemlins/whistling.gif

Like I figured, you consider a nice truck one with rock sliders, etc...all that trail wheeling stuff. To me thats just another beater. WAYYYY opposite of a nice cherried out truck.
Nice to me is nice paint
Nice aluminum rims
All trim and bumpers in good shape.
No body damage
Good interior that includes carpet, weatherstripping, etc..
Leather seats are very "nice"
Cruise is "nice"
A/C is very "nice"
A nice grille that isn't the stock broken one is "nice"
Windows that are still in place and not cracked are "nice"
Show me a rig with most of this stuff and chances are that the owner has taken care of it and/or has cherried it out.
I know most of you think having stuff like that is totally lame but if you spent as many hours as me driving daily, maybe you would think different. I honestly don't know how you guys can stand to drive around without the doors on, no top permanatly, open exhaust, missing windows, etc... That would get on my nerves. /forums/images/graemlins/dunno.gif But if thats what you like than thats cool because like SS75 said, "different strokes for different folks." I just like getting "nice truck" from people at the gas station than "who's the okie?" /forums/images/graemlins/doah.gifj/k But I'm sure you guys also get "where do you take that thing wheeling?" to and that is probably just as good. /forums/images/graemlins/thinking.gif

yup mine went from "hey pretty truck"

to "hey that is bad a$$"

people seem to like flat black?

[ QUOTE ]
Just a quick question, if it's just a pavement pounder, why do you need more than 1/2 ton axles?

[/ QUOTE ]
Well, there are a lot of variables to that question but basically. I used to wheel it a lot before I decided I wanted to restore it. A 3/4ton swap is a for sure needed thing when I also decided to go with boggers and with my 406 pushing I doubt the 10B would have held up for long. Plus I needed lower gearing, I got my 3/4 set for about $600 installed with chrome covers, painted, and decent brakes. A gear swap from a shop costs 1,200 bucks here and I am not sure if I want to learn how to do gears on my DD. /forums/images/graemlins/histerical.gif
I still pull with guys all the time and pull on farm equipment, trucks, stuck buddies, all the time. Just the other day I was pulling on one of our trucks because it was stuck and I was spinning out on the pavement trying to get some traction. /forums/images/graemlins/doah.gif I do a lot of towing also and the tubes on my 10B were bent from putting too much weight on it. /forums/images/graemlins/doah.gif Not to mention having the peace of mind knowing that there is a 14BFF under there instead of a 10B.

why is this even an issue? wtf do all of you care what someone else has and likes? You do your thing, I'll do mine. Your money is yours and your desires are yours...why does every one give rfg [darn] for having a clean rig? Why does rfg give everyone else [darn] for having a trail beat rig? As long as you arent making unsafe mods or doing harm to the sport by tearing up property, ect...I couldn't care less how you do your build. /forums/images/graemlins/rolleyes.gif

hmmm, so if i put cab corners in my 86, and a set of alumium wheels, it would be "nice".

maybe i should put it back together and drive it, so i have a "nice" DD, rather than my 91. because we all know, if its scratched, its trash. and since my 91 regularly gets used as a truck, its got its share of wounds.

What's with the Erection Joe stuff? Fine! Rapidly Jacking Off Fags Guitar!

Butt in? Oh sorry I didn't see that you started this thread..... wait you didn't, [darn] off

If you'd quit trying to defend what you like and just roll with it there wouldn't be mile long threads about your nice expensive scratch free shiny big lift small tireswide rimmed truck

[darn] a spider just bit me

No but really, $3000 or less into rusty K20 and there you go, you can wheel again, put off that paint job or something

And the fact still remains, those beaters achieve intent, your truck, no offense, is kind of a lost cause, like you said once in one thread I barely remeber

Dude, what is your problem? You sound like you have a chip on your shoulder or something at me. /forums/images/graemlins/dunno.gif I don't care what you do with whatever you have and if you think it's "nice" or not. You obviously don't like what I like, fine, leave it alone. No need to get an attitude towards me just because I don't like the same stuff as you. I never said my truck was better than yours, just different. /forums/images/graemlins/shame.gif "Nice" in my own way. I'm sure yours is nice in your own way, more power to you. /forums/images/graemlins/dunno.gif

Resurrectionjoe,

/forums/images/graemlins/rolleyes.gif /forums/images/graemlins/rolleyes.gif /forums/images/graemlins/rolleyes.gif Same old crap, you list out "too tall, too small tires...yada yada.... /forums/images/graemlins/whistling.gif
My K5 is not a lost cause, I have turned it into a very nice attractive DD. Oh and no offence, mine will probably out last yours and still be on the road and in decent shape(hopefully) in say 10 years. End of story. /forums/images/graemlins/whistling.gif

Man I was trying ot be nice, this is the same [darn] you always pull, no concessions, just cover your ears and stab with your point, and throw in a few emoticons to just drive the intent

Sure your truck will outlast mine, but I'll be having fun not worrying about polish and shine

Same old crap? You never change your argument about trail rigs, you never even really made one, cover ears, stab stab stab

Anyway, my point is in a very hard to see for you way, is that I would not give one lick about whether your truck was used forwheeling or not, if you would quit playing shiney martyr, and just accept the fact that people are going to make fun of it. You always say "It's what I like and...." Well yeah sure,,that's all the argument you need, not all this [darn]. If you need to argue the point all the time and insult others trucks, you must not be truly happy with it., that or you're a protagonist

Let me repeat, I am not arguing about your truck, I'm arguing that you shouldn't have to argue if you truly like your truck how it is, and that you shouldn't be so uptight

I never said your truck was ugly or shitty, just too tall and shiney, in my terms, which is all a person can use

Thanks for spelling my name right!

(I wouldnt have replied but those eye rolling emoticons really get to me)

I just want to get along, and have everyone else to get along, so just be a little more stoic about your truck
