Ultimate Adventure '09 i want in

I really like that idea. And it could get us past the Videoing laws in MOAB as far as needing permits. Which means videos would have to be free. or at least donation funded.

I know Wally went in '06, not '07 - Willard's first year, and '08 it was the Flowmaster rig. You'll notice in the pictures it is primarily decorated in Flowmaster stickers.

Scott, I was referring to Stephen's ORD rig, Wally. I think he went in more than twice.... but again, he probably did go twice. :dunno:

EDIT: Never mind. Reread your post and it made sense. I'm burnt out from tearing down my blazer today.

ORD sent Wally in 05' and 06'. 06' was the year that hey put down the rule about the same rig going year after year. This was Wallys last year.

07' Green Willard went as the ORD vehicle. 08' Orange Willard with some suspension changes went as the Flowmaster Vehicle and the ORD Vehicle was Tom Cherrys K 30 thing.

There is a good chance that none of those vehicles will ever go on another UA.

Building a truck in this economy for UA is going to be a tough deal. Finding sponsors will be even harder, I don't know if all of the sponsor spots are full or not either.

Keep in mind that the Mag. keeps this to a limited number of people and sponsors so it remains something special and for everyone to strive for to try to get in. You guys are proving that point in this thread.

But wouldn't that also mean driving to the trails? On the street :eek1:?

By the way, some of us do that already. It's called BlazerBash...:D

Yes, is that a problem. :D

Blazer Bash is great for those out west, but it isn't the same animal as UA. Now if Blazer Bash lasted a week and was in a different part of the country every year doing trails in several different areas....

Don't be such a weiner (or is it whiner :D)

Kurt (VTBlazer) and I are driving from NH/VT to BlazerBash in 2010.... We'll meet up with you along the way and you can join our little caravan out to Utah. :deal:

As for the larger topic: (and this is not aimed at anyone in particular)

There's no reason you couldn't do your own UA trip with friends...once the event happens, it should be fairly well-documented where Pewe went and what roads to take, etc. You'd be able to follow your own schedule and agenda and not have to worry about being in a structured magazine event.

However, if the motivation is more about being in a magazine than anything else.....guess you've got no choice but to throw down a lot of money and start kissing posteriors...

:usaflag:

I guess If I am being a whiner, I've already broken the first rule of the UA. :doah:

Someday I'll drive out to Utah and do Moab. With family commitments, limited vacation time, and limited funds, it just ain't in the cards in the near future.

I really like the idea of a "local" mini-UA - more than just a weekend at one spot, but less than a full-on two week road trip out west. Of course any discussion of me wheeling is purely hypothetical at this point, so I'll be shutting my trap right about now....

So start video taping BB. Find someone who can do video editing and just make a compilation of a bunch of footage taken by people at BB. We do it for the calendar every year, why not do a video as well? My kids love offroading videos, and I'm pretty sure noone gets turned away from participating in BB, so why not.:D
I kinda did that with the video I shot on my 2 runs. You can see one here: http://coloradok5.com/forums/showpost.php?p=2341796&postcount=112 and the other here: http://coloradok5.com/forums/showpost.php?p=2341912&postcount=122.

And here's one I did for BB07: http://coloradok5.com/forums/showpost.php?p=2156840&postcount=1

You could do Harlen, Jellico, Coal Creek, Tellico, Bisley Knob, and Grey Rock. That would be one hell of a trip and easily last 2 weeks. The trick would be getting a dozen guys to do it with you AND drive the whole way. Maybe have one trailer for emergencies.

Let's do it, I should be ready by 2012. :doah:

I seriously would love to... someday.

Let's get Ramjet in the '09 UA first. :o

I'd definetely be down for that. I'd like to go to BB some day but Utah is a long frickin way and I don't have a tow rig
