ummm fuel pump issues.

Spent the whole day chaseing wires.. Still no luck. I found several exsposed wires which have been repaired. Still poping fuses. Its got a pretty good hack job done on the wires. At this rate i dont know when ill figure out where the problem lies. What is a DVOM is that a voltage meter? I dont have one of those but i do have one of the lil bulb light up testers that I have been useing.

Also does any body know where to get a hold of one of the factory repair manuals besides going directly to GM?

So I found the culprit. Good ol Grandaddy gave me a risky idea and I dont suggest that it be done but I tried it. I took a thin gauge peice of wire and jumped the fuse slot for just a second. It melted the wire where is was grounded. Now timing is everything on this so that nothing is damaged. it really only takes a half a second to do. But if you dont yank that wire out real fast it will destroy what ever it is hooked up to. I hope i was qwik enuff. AS I SAID BEFORE I DONT SUGGEST THAT ANYONE DOES THIS IT IS A STUPID IDEA!!! But it woked for me and I consider myself lucky. And until i get the wire fixed i wont know if i was lucky at all. Ill post up after iget it repaired. proly monday or tuesday.

This is why they make continuity testing part of multimeters. A bit less dangerous. :)

Well damn... I wired up an inline fuse to bypass that one on the block and im still blowing the fuse. It held fine for 1 afternoon. I put everything back togeather and bam blowing fuses. So i went back and started unhooking the electrics and no go even with every thing un plugged still blowing fuses. there has to be sumthing else some where.

I ended up just dropping the coin on Painless' kit for my truck. I did in in 2003, and haven't had an ounce of trouble yet.

My truck doesn't have many options , but the kit came ready for a/c, pw, p locks and everything else. The only thing I had to wire up seperately was the dual tank wiring.

It may be an option, if you don't feel comfortable repairing wiring.

I dont mind doing it. I just wish I had some diagrams for the wireing. I looked at the painless stuff. I would do it if i could afford it. Im on a no income budget. I bought the truck to be a rolling project till I have enuff cash to do it right.

Okay im pretty sure i got it this time. Now its the oil pressure switch. So as far as I can tell the cause of the problem was a damaged wire going from the ecm b fuse to the orange wire wich controlls the various fuel system components. First it was the fuel pump. then it was the fuel relay. then I learned of the damaged wire. ran an inline fuse to bypass the block and damaged wire. How ever I am to assume that there was damage done to the oil pressure switch. Probbably done by me when i jumped the fuse slot looking for the short. I realized after the fact that even tho I unhooked the fuel pump and fuel relay I forgot to unhook the oil pressure switch. So i fried it.now i got a new switch and the special socket for it. So hopefully tomorow I will be up and running. :) Thanks for all the help from the wonderful people at ck5!!!!

To make it simple for others with the same problems. Things to check for ecm B fuse issues. 1.) Fuel pump
2.) Fuel relay
3.) Oil pressure switch
4.) the orange wire going from ecm B fuse on block to harness from harness to oil pressure switch for defects and possible grounds.

Once again thanks for all the help from the CK5 community. I will be getting a membership as soon as I can spare some coin. Becuase Im broke after all this fixxing.
