update:

got some more stuff today, 3/8s snap-on drill, snap on cut off wheel, HSS drill bits up to 3/8s, pop rivet gun, 32 oz dead blow ball peen, 6 pc snap-on snap ring plier set, and i think thats all for today. He threw in a bluepoint double magnet tray b/c ive gotten about $2400 of stuff from him in the past month

if you like the krl because of the 30" drawers, but are a little gunshy on price, and want a 3 bay, check a kra2418 or kra2432... 24" deep and 72" wide still..

that 7023 is an awesome box... but you can get a SS top and SS drawer guards for it and really sharpen it up, but you could step up to a krl1023/krl1032/krl1033 for little pennies more and have a 6" taller box with more drawers...

ive mentioned to my snap-on rep a lil bit but is there anyway i get get it in semi gloss black (closer to flat black the better) and get the old snap-on logo???

The very best soldering iron I have ever used is Snap Ons' # yak-s22. I'm MECP certified and I've seen my share of irons. But I've been out of it for a few years now.

Don't quote me, but I think for a price Snap-On will do custom colors. Probably be a pretty penny though.

We had a flat black box suggested and Matco shot it down. Bet Snap-On would as well. Some think it a sweet idea, but not enough people to make it marketable would be my bet.

Just a question, bother looking at Matco boxes? Not sure if you have a Matco distributor or not. Snap-On makes tons of great stuff, boxes included, but personally prefer our boxes(and thats not just a bias thing).

Side by side comparison... If it were a truck frame, which would you say was stronger?

bah, my Snappy side locker makes the Mac guys in my shop with side lockers look like poo... KRL's rule...

I'd like to see a Matco box... I'd put my KRL up against it for sure, but I'd still like to check it out..

There is a Matco guy in this area, he's just never been in our yards... Tho I already spend enough, I'd love to have him stop in for another tool option...

Ryoken - needs to have his welder fixed.......

Mac stuff is whimpy IMO. Their boxes are literally bolt together jigsaw puzzles. They make their boxes in a strange fashion too. Their 3 bay box is bigger than our 4 bay box! Was discussing with a guy on my route that has a KRL triple bay, top and bottom with 2 side lockers. He was talking about a friend that put a double bay top on his Mac triple bay lower. It bent the main frame. Mac said it was because the box was intended to have a triple top, but they replaced it. He bought a triple top. Few months later, the lower one deformed again ;)

Confedneck, what is the model number of the Snap-On 4 bay box? Have a few guys with them on my route, trying to find the measurements of it.

And once again, I will never say Snap-On makes junk, they don't! KRLs are great boxes. I just like ours better myself ;)

the gauge of the sheet metal helps alot and snap-on uses some thick stuff, matco has cool box designs, IE rat fink, but i honestly like the construction of the KRL better. Ive stood on the bottem draw of both the matco and Snap-on classic series and neither budged. Matco just has a cheese logo, thundercats logo lol, just messing. Im just a snap-on man honestly. Ive got a pair of matco hose clamp pliers, used them maybe 20 times and now they dont hold nemore. We dont have a matco dealer now b/c they forced the guy that was ours out of business. and eventhough the matco has a solid piece in the center were the snap-on box doesnt, the ribs on the underside of the draws help alot. thats just some stuff ive noticed. reason being im leaning more towards the snap-on stuff is b/c my roll cart is snap on and ima trade that in on a new one with the same color and get a pin up girl painted on the underside of the lid. same with my top chest when i buy that. ( i love old school stuff) id love to see if they could do red and chrome wheels for the roll cab and cart lol

could always paint the insides of the wheels red ;)

Thats cool man, understandable. The only out there designs we ever have that I like are the Rat Fink ones. Some I just think are retarded, but they sell oddly enough.

ive got a buddy at the dealership i used to work at with a Rat fink roll cart and it was pretty sweet but the graphic was kinda peeling off. Ive seen the matco ghostrider box and its pretty sweet but just not for me.

ok well i called my snap-on rep today and told him i need to get another $1500 in tools.... he said he'd be at my shop first thing in the morning. I feel high profile lol but im gettin a powersteering pulley puller/installer kit, having to buy some prybars (i only had one and it was a 24in crapsman that got missing over the weekend really pissed about that) so im gettin about $300 worth of prybars, and a bunch of other misc. stuff.

well, since i went to rehab it put tool buying on hold but im back in action again. well now both my snap-on roll cart and my lil POS red box are all unorganized and full. had to get a cyl leakage tester, compression gauge, and injector light kit (is it noide lol cant spell it but i use it). man they are proud of them things. freakin right at $650 for them 3 things. well im looking at the snap-on (kra2312) roll cab. prob trade in my roll cart (krsc31) and i dunno what to do with the lil red box. im pretty sure i can fit everything in it. then maybe buy the top chest for it after a couple months if i need to. it kinda sux being 21 and doing the kinda stuff i do (alot of major engine repairs and diagnoses, electrical, anything with brakes, diesels engine repair and diagnoses) . come to think of it the onlything they havent let me tear into at this dealership is auto or manual transmissions, transfercases, and i havent been asked to rebuild a rear end yet. but i do such and assortment i have to have all these tools. my bill aint been under $5k in like a year now it sux. but i love workin on cars lol

well since the last update I bought, snap-on screw driver set that they had on sale, bluepoint fuel line disconnect set (needed 5/8"), 3/8s and 1/2 (long handle, soft grip, flex-head) ratchets, got the snap-on dial indicator/magnetic base but the gears stripped out when i went to use it 2 hrs after i bought it(freakin gay). im planning on going into the military but i still wanna work on cars like if im dont deployed and some guys want some stuff dont to their ride. start talking all these OHC mustang guys into putting cams in lol

Well, its the time of the year. Getting my tax return back and I sold a car I had and I've decided its time to stop packing stuff so tight in my 2 boxes and I'm stepping up to the big boys. So the attached link is the box im having delieverd on friday. I'm so excited lol. I feel like a big timer now lol. Hes giving me $1000 trade in value of my snap-on roll cart I bought 2 years ago and my old Torin box I bought when I was 15. After I get my pay off to just over $1k I'ma pony up and get the S/S top for it, and a smaller roll cart. But yeah happy valentines day to me lol

I had a classic 96. I liked it, but outgrew it. Stepped up to a KRL with an end cabinet and riser. The riser might be the best toolbox addition I have ever bought.

I picked up an older Snap on top and bottom box with side cabinet for the home shop. It was too small before i even got it home.:doah:

Maybe I should just line up all my toolboxes on one wall and organize everything.

Enjoy the new box.

Well I backed out of the classic 96 box b/c now Ive got to move out and all that great stuff. But the cornwell guy had a box that got traded in and I bought it today. Gives me more room and now its paid for ($800). So, not to worried about space anymore and I've still got some money left over that I can put into savings. Its a 44x24x40 mac select series. Not a huge pricey box, but it gets the job done and it was relative cheap. Its about 4 or 5 years old and in good condition. Could use some new draw liners though
