*updated 5/24* Front bumper and the fuel tank done, rear bumper done!

Re: NEW PROJECT! More pics... Front bumper started

*edit* I didn't get crap done today....

I got a long list of small stuff today.
-two front lift pucks and bushings to put in *nope!
-tighten down the rest of the body lift (got to get someone to stand on them while I push up with the impact and a deep socket, then trim off the excess bolt and retightin) *bolts where TOOOO long and the none threaded area was to much even to trim the bolts to make them work... So I need some shorter bolts. Anyone want to buy 4 carage bolts for a 3"-5" BL /forums/images/graemlins/histerical.gif
-I have the brackets cut for the rear, I'm adding in some metal to the frame then tack welding the brackets together, then get another 6x2 tube up there and tack the brakets to the bumper *brackets are welded on, need to drill the bolt holes out
-I'm going to trim a little more off the rear of the front fenders and tack weld it to the rock slider *nope
-then trim up the rear panels a bit and tack weld them to the inner floor area (so I'm going to pull them in about 1/2" to meet the new floors) *nope
-Strap the gas tank back in and plumb it * /forums/images/graemlins/histerical.gif /forums/images/graemlins/histerical.gif /forums/images/graemlins/histerical.gif /forums/images/graemlins/histerical.gif /forums/images/graemlins/histerical.gif /forums/images/graemlins/histerical.gif NOPE!
-IF its still day light I'll start the wrap around bars for the bumpers

Still have to drill out the holes to 1/2" for the bolts /forums/images/graemlins/tongue.gif
The only ones holding it on are the tops ones /forums/images/graemlins/whistling.gif

Here's the simpler rear bumper, still need to drill th mounting holes but I used More diamond plate on this one

rearbumperside.jpg

Its another 6"x2"x3/16" tube with 1/4" brackets and it has 1/8" diamond plate wrapped around the sides and top then trimmed off one an angle (*NOTE TO SELF* Drill mounting holes BEFORE welding on the side plate /forums/images/graemlins/deal.gif)

Then these are my new taillights I'm still trying to figure out where I want them. They are LED and only 3/4" deep

I like this idea but they would not stay there long without getting busted

That is the bumper but I chopped in the lights (thus the flat look))

Re: NEW PROJECT! More pics... Front bumper started

I should mention the front bumper is going to have some diamond plate added to it. On the tops of the side bars to stiffen them up and make it look thicker I'm going to weld in some angled sections; Once the new core support and bushings goes in so I know how much further up I need to trim the outer sections of those fenders (I'm thinking about 2" below the front turn signals). And then a skid plate from the front bumper to the first crossmember as wide as the front spring eye mounts /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif
Still have to measure and bend it, then drill and tap some holes for pan headed allen bolts /forums/images/graemlins/waytogo.gif

Re: NEW PROJECT! More pics... Front bumper started

I'm really liking those bumpers!

They are really coming along, /forums/images/graemlins/bow.gif

Front bumper is done, rear bumper is done also.

Still need to readjust the column shifter and maybe the Tcase shifter so it will go into park so we can start the truck up. After its running and no fuel line leaks I'll bolt in the gas tank skid plate and rear bumper and take a few more pics.

(edit add) I guess the front bumper is not totally done I have to make a couple braces back to the frame from the side bars /forums/images/graemlins/whistling.gif

Re: NEW PROJECT! More pics... Front bumper started

/forums/images/graemlins/peace.gif. those look awsome. wish I had that kind of talent!

Re: NEW PROJECT! More pics... Front bumper started

I haven't put the skid plate on yet... its not going to be seeing anything hardcore for a little while. Needed to get the rear bumper out of the garage so I went ahead and installed it. Once the tank gets some gas through it and the we see if the sender is going to start working (it currently does not), I'll put the skid plate on once all thats done. I still have a leaky fuel filter, I think I'm just going to have to use some rubber line and a barbed fuel filter /forums/images/graemlins/tongue.gif /forums/images/graemlins/dunno.gif (fuel filter post)

Here's the rear bumper

Here's the beginnings of the rear cargo storage area
rustyrearcargo.jpg

Those tubes will have diamond plate welded in solid and the LED taillights mounted in them. The storage area will be built from angle and the sides made of expanded steel.
I'm working on an idea for a custom tailgate out of angle and expanded steel /forums/images/graemlins/waytogo.gif

Looking Good! Keep us updated on the storage compartments and custom tailgate /forums/images/graemlins/waytogo.gif

Re: NEW PROJECT! More pics... Front bumper started

I really like the 87 Fiero GT in the background. I used to have one just like it. It is an opposite extreme from a big Blazer, but still fun.

IT'S A ROLLING COFFIN......
I'm always affraid of sliding under another car or semi. I've had it up to 113 and even with the smallest bumps its floats. This car never gets drove so the brakes are always rusted over. Dad wants to restore it (needs paint, all new weather stripping, steering wheel is melting and because of the heat in the summer the dash is starting to get weird). It's too damn fast for being that small /forums/images/graemlins/whistling.gif
