ill take boggers over iroks anyday! they definitely dont ride bad... both mine and my buddies unbalanced 38.5 boggers ride smooth as glass at highway speeds :bow:
 
go with the boggers if you are going to be doing alot of mud. If you are going to be doing a 6 hr ride to tellico why not mount some all terrain tires and pull a utility trailer with your bogger's on it?
 
for that price i would def buy the iroks.the boggers are 700 dollars appiece.you can get the set of 4 iroks 4 650.i would go iroks but im a broke bastard so i only buy what i can afford.it would take me 10 years to get the 2800 for a set of boggers.that is a great price for those tires.they should do alright in mud.

is this english? are you getting free vaseline for your $700 per bogger?
 
$650 is a decent price, but it isn't exactly a steal on the Boggers either. So don't have any illusions about buying them and reselling them for a huge profit (unless you get lucky).

If you are mostly doing mud, than I would say go with Boggers. However I have not been impressed with them from what I have seen on the trail in anything but mud. On rocks and hard pack they don't grip nearly as well as an Irok or TSL.
 
Actually boggers do really well on trails on rock if you air them down to arond 13 or 14 psi. They grip awsome and mold to anything.
 
the only problem with boggers is that they don't like to steer very well in slick off camber type situations.

That's street pressure.

Sure, any tire works much better when aired down to 13-14 psi as compared to 40-45 psi when off-road, especially rocks. We have three good examples in our club.
1. Sami, stock axles/engine, low geared t-case, lockers - had 31" Boggers and just switched them to Trxus MT's because of poor rock performance.
2. "used to be" Sami - V-8, 'yota axles, lockers, stretched - ran 35" TSL's all the way around, but ruined one rear tire and happened to pick up a used set of 35" Boggers to put on the back. He said the boggers had a noticable lack of traction on hardpack. BTW, he runs in the low single digit air pressure.
3. YJ, D60's, etc.... - runs 37" Boggers on beadlocks, single digit air pressure. I was right behind him most of the time a couple of weekends ago on the trail and had a noticably easier time crawling rocks with my TSL's.

I'm not saying Boggers are bad tires by any means, but the just don't hook up quite as well as many other tires in a lot of situations.
 
38.5/15-16.5 boggers are what i'm saving up for... if you're doing a 6 hour drive, get a set of all terrains... after all, it's only lug nuts... hell, for the price that they guy's selling around you, i might make a road trip...!
 
13 psi in my book is low pressure for a 16.5 rim. And yes boggers are not very good at lateral traction, dont do very well side hilling, and they steer like crap in the mud thats why you put tsl's or ltb's or maybe iroks up front.

If it's mainly mud, then Boggers. Iroks have impressed me though in snow, ice and on rocks. They're really soft and grip well. Boggers are ok if you air down, but not as good on rocks and stuff as Iroks. But for mud theres no substitute for the Boggers.

Disadvantage for boggers: On a heavy truck in sand or snow where you need to stay on stop, you can dig too easy and bury yourself; so just air down more and alter your driving style accordingly (less throttle, more idle). Other than that though, and sidehill traction, theres not really any disadvantages.

I got my Iroks for a rig that was going to be meant for trails and crawling moreso than mud. But on anything else, I'd have to say Boggers.
 
well it the used boggers look like a no go. Went and looked at them this afternoon and 95% tread my arse! They had like maybe 1/2in tread and the fronts are cupped like hell. I told him he'd have to come down off of $650 alot but he won't so, no used boggers for me. Guess I'll just keep and ear out and wait
 
Just an FYI:

I paid $800 for set of true 95% tread 39.5x15.50 TSL's on 15x10 8-lug rims awhile back. No cupping and no trail rash on the tires either. I kept my eye out for at least a year before finding a used set within a reasonable driving distance (still drove 3 hours away) and reasonable price.

A friend of mine is well-experienced on buying used parts and vehicles for cheap for the sole intent of reselling them for a profit, so has a good handle on prices for used stuff. He said this was only an "okay" deal, but would never buy them with the intent of trying to make any profit.

I had also previously bought a set of used 39.5x13.50-17 Iroks (probably 90% tread but decent trail rash...had been on a buggy so hardly any pavement) but decided against them after finding the above. Took me probably 3 months to sell them for what I had paid (which was a very reasonable price).
