Blazer aux fuel tanks

Back in 1969 vic Hickey had a cool idea to build extra fuel tanks for the K5 Blazer, These tanks were only 13 gallons each but a extra 26 gallons helped the small factory tank, So that now means i had to go into production building these tanks to outfit my fleet of K5 Blazers and if anyone is looking for original Hickey Blazer tanks my reproduction tanks will work sence i bought the trademark name Hickey Enterprises and they are 100% correct even the mistakes, Iam not doing this to make $$ but to bring back the name VIC HICKEY:bow:

Ron,

This is an amazing history lesson!

I find it fascinating to see all of these old photos, and the pics of all the Hickey "add-ons" are terrific. So much of this is all brand new information to me. (I thought I knew quite a bit about these 1st Gen Blazers) :doah:

Please keep sharing your stories and photos, and I'll keep doing the "right-click, Save As" shuffle! :D

:usaflag:

Ya I'm with thease guys!

I did see thoes tanks one time before. Back in 93 when I was shoping for a 72K5 one of the rigs I looked at in the North/East Bay Area here in Cali had a 400small block in it w/ two aux tanks that looked just like thoes in yours. Duno if they were true VH tanks?? I didn't know about VH then anyway hahhaa. That K5 was beat and VERY greasy from front to back underneath so I walked away from that one.

Most of the parts Hickey built for the 1st gen trucks and Blazers are a direct bolt on Suburbans, The saddle tanks will fit and i have them, Ron

I realize its been said already, but this thread kicks butt. Thanks for posting.

What are you looking to get for the saddle tanks? and do you think they would fit if spun around (large part facing forward) and put on the front of the wheel well? Do you make thm or are they leftover stock? Would you be willing to modify them? Just curious

They would work reversed, i can make them any size , The main body is 36 inches long and 8 3/8 inches wide, I have a few sets of original NOS tanks but they are not for sale, If you have seen all the posts iam carrying on the Hickey name, I own the name Hickey Enterprises, Iam reproducing his parts 100% original and also custom, If i build tanks and other parts i will tell people they are reproduction but they are 100% correct perfect,I have not tracked how much the tanks will cost but i will let you know monday,Iam doing this for the love of it, Its not about $$, The one thing i would like to do with the new tanks is install baffles to git rid of fuel slosh, I will post some photos of reproduction hickey tanks i built for my race truck

tanks

tanks and seats in the race truck, these are the original stats that came in the truck in 1969, Back then they did not racing seats so the only thing that GM had were new Corvette seats and there were Simpson seat belts in it also, I did have to recover the seats and i had Simpson build me some new belts
