Vortec heads, without the vortec look? *Found them*

Thought I would chime in on this one. I am just waiting back from Engine Quest on a couple fo questions but if they all come back good then I will be ordering a set of the CH350H this week.

Some of you know my TPI Vortec build coming up. Well the CH350H head allows you to in fact use the 55-86 style intakes. I had just found out I have that exact TPI intake right now and I need new heads anyways so this save me $500 from having to get a specialized TPI intake.

Also

Engine Quest and RHS are the only two aftermarket heads companies that are making genuine swirl port vortec heads. all other have similar designs or just call them vortecs to bolt up to the 96-00 vortec CPI intakes.

And some useless tidbit. the Chevy Engine Quest heads come from Australia and they work with Vauxhall (Australian and UK General Motors) under there Australian company Toowoomba. So the heads are australian made!

That's an old bump.

So what would you call the heads that I'm running? They are off a 92. Look like Vortecs except are cast iron, run older intakes, and center bolt covers.

Vortecs also have a different bolt up pattern then the older styles.

for the Small block chevy there are basically three different intake to head bolt "patterns"

'55 to '86 6 bolts to a side all bolts at same angle
'87 to '95 (non corvette) same as '55 to '86 but the for center bolts (of the intake) are almost straight up and down.
'96 to '00 Vortec intake eliminated the 4 center bolts and the outer 8 are all straight up and down
'87 to '91 Corvettes even with the aluminum heads kept the '55 to '86 pattern until '91. In '92 Corvette changed the intake to the LT1 Ram style plenum/intake.

Did you end up getting a pair? How do you like them?

I got them and they look good.... on my shelf.

I am still building the motor. The casting looks really good, had a couple of performance guys look at them and they were really impressed with the casting quality and machining. They mention some of the machine on these heads you only see in higher end performance heads. The decks are thicker so less prone to cracking like the stock vortec heads are.

I still have to buy the valve components. I had to by valves parts anyways for the vortec heads so when the rebuild/machining price cam in it was pretty much same cost to get these brand new heads and heads that will do better.
