Got the frame painted today! Also patched the hole where the blower motor goes, because im going to run a summit heater box. Hopefully tomorrow i will get the 14 bolt out on jack stands and can take more pictures of that.

Update, today patched the second hole from the hvac system and primer it, will paint it black in the next few days. Also got the axle on jack stands finally, gonna take it apart, paint it and such. Thinking about converting to discs but will probably save that for a future mod.

3 words: Holy trusses batman!

yea, was originally thinking to strip it some but im just gonna clean it up and run with it. Already has shock mounts and ladder bar mounts on it, and i needed to add those before so ill be a step ahead.

haha yea when i first got it i wanted to clean it up, but that would take time and such, so i feel like just cleaning it and making sure its painted well will be good for me because i am trying to have this whole k5 done by spring. At least i know it wont break :thumb:

That truss work is redonculous lol. Should be strong though lol. Dont go through any mud, itl stop you real quick lol

Didnt get much done this weekend, but i started on cleaning up the 14 bolt. cut some of the trussing off so when i get my shock inboarding kit i can weld on the shock mounts. Took about 15 pounds of trussing off. haha this this is ridiculous. Hopefully if i get some free time this week i can grind and primer it. Yes the picture is upside down so it makes the axle right side up :waytogo:

Got my front axle cleaned up and painted today, also painted the shackle flip. And got my rear disk brake brackets in the mail!

Okay a lot has gotten done since the last update, pulling everything together to get the chassis back together. Got the rear axle painted and the axle covers. Converted rear to disk brakes and grinded and primed my rear leaf springs. Painting a lot of other small stuff too, shackles and u-bolts and such.

Still have to replace my pinion seal on the 14 bolt because its leaking, and finish up painting everything and then bolt it up to the chassis!

Okay so lots of progress, yet a small set back...got the chassis all assembled and painted all the small parts. Had some problems with my energy suspension bushing kits for my springs and body mounts (they were each missing a couple pieces and i had other pieces that didnt fit my truck, and i didnt have time to return them so i had to modify them and go with it). But i got the cab on the chassis and im glad that was able to get done, i primered the floors inside where i did some grinding and patching, most of the patching was done previous to me and is a mess already so instead of making it look pretty i just made sure it was all sealed. My biggest problem is that the k5 is not sitting level, its higher in the back than in the front and i dont like that because i know it will only go lower in the front with the engine and stuff up there. So im thinking i may have to get 8" front lift springs :doah: to level it out, i was thinking about changing my shackle length but i head that just kills pinion angle, and im not sure if that would even be enough to level it out. Anyone have thoughts on this?

Instead of buying new springs, maybe you could move the shackle flip forward on the frame rails a lil bit, and get a better angle out of it as well. Plus it will lower the rear end a a bit. Or you could try a add a leaf in the front. But the rear shackle is not at an all that great of an angle, should from what Iv seen be exactly opposite of what you have now.

yea i know...im hoping it gets better once stuff starts getting added on, like the tailgate, gas tank, back seat...etc.

Is the only way to fix it to move the flip forward? i dont really wanna do that...

i also just realized something, in both of those pictures, the jack is still holding the back up a bit. I just went outside to check and it is like 5-10 degrees pointed back in the right direction...hopefully once fully assembled it will look a little better.
