Wage92's 78 K5 Build

Pretty hot here today, but i got some more done. All but the rear interior panels and rear speakers is done. Glued up the headliner, hoping it holds. Thinkin about getting some kind of sticker/banner to put in the center of it to break it up. Also think im gonna do something on the passenger side of the dash too. I routed all the wires up around the door and then down and they will go behind the rear panels and out the back to the lights, i did this to keep them inside and keep it cleaner looking. Anyways heres a few pictures....

Onward...

Gonna push the engine install back a couple days and try to get all the brake lines routed and steering connected first. Then hopefully engine early next week or weekend.

Got the jeep xj shaft in, some grinding on the steering column gear and it went on pretty easy. Also got the drag link in. Not the greatest angle, but cant afford crossover right now, but i think its in the future :thumb: . Also got the front calipers on, gotta do the rears and then run all my lines.

Heres a question for someone...where do you mount your proportioning valve if you are using a steering brace?

Rear caddys:

All I have left is to run lines from the MC and then lines across the rear axle, not the prettiest but it will work fine.

New braided stainless lines

incase i missed it, what are you running for a heater? got any pics of that?

nice build man :thumb:

Have a summit brand, mojave type unit, under the dash where the old blower assembly was. I can get pictures of it today.

And thanks :thumb:

Looks good man!! Thats the cleanest 208 ive ever seen :thumb:

Your rear driveshaft, may give you some vibrations though  :D

yea i know about the driveshaft, i measured the angles and shim'd the rear axle and figured i would give it my best shot, if it doesnt work ill have to come up with the cash for a cv :doah:

school started on the 26th and im busy as heck between that and work. trucks been "finished" since first week of august. All thats left is hooking up battery, first crank and tires. With that said, i sold my DD truck and am currently searching for a 6.2 diesel pickup as a new DD. Going to try to get the engine running in the next week or two, and im not sure when i will be getting tires. All my money is going towards paying for school and saving for another DD. Anywayyy heres some eye candy.

Drove the k5 around the block on the pizza cutters! so stoked! :woot:
Played with the timing, checked for leaks (seems to have a small power steering leak), steering is pretty sloppy, so i gotta check balljoints but over all it was awesome, didnt get past like 40 mph, but seems pretty good for crappy dry rotted tires that are too small.

Only another couple weeks and then im going to put it in storage and call it a season. And then find some tires by spring.

Good job man! Speaking of power steering, whats up with your lines?

you're referring to the routing? Im not sure if i ordered the wrong ones, or if the steering brace was in the way, but i couldnt get them to go back on without going the way i did, and i think its better because it keeps them away from the belts and there is enough slack for any movement different from the frame to engine. If there is some reason i shouldnt have done this please let me know...
