thank you sir, it was my first build of any sort on a car and i am mostly pleased with the outcome, looking back there are a few things that i would have done differently but i cant complain. the majority of the work was done within a year and a couple months and i am also juggling work and school. I just cant wait for spring :woot: about a month ago i finally got some tires for it, 38s :thumb:
 
i second that! this is a very impressive build and you actually did a lot of stuff that i wanna do to my 83 k5. especially with the color scheme i love the red and black underneath. and your battery mount is awesome lol iv looked at a few build threads on here and never seen someone do that for the battery mount. very cool. and btw what kind of exhust do you have on it? it sounds mean as hell

thank you very much :thumb: and you should hear the exhaust in person, the video does it no justice, its got a crazy rumble to it without being so loud that its annoying, its just about perfect in my opinion :woot: But i have doug thorley tri-y headers up front and then true duals that exit right before the rear tires, no cats, just a very short chambered mufflers (not sure on brand because they came with it and i reused them). But yea i love the way it sounds!
 
How well does the paint look after while on the frame and all that underneath it? IV heard people saying after driving it a little it all gets tore up, I'm wanting to do it to but was wondering about line Xing everything underneath so it'll stick better.
 
well i dont really have an answer for you yet, it probably has a total of about 10 miles on it before i garaged it for the winter. So ill have to see how it does in the spring. The underside of the body has a coat of primer, then paint, then topcoat bedliner, and the frame has primer and paint. So it looks like it will hold on well, but only time with tell.
 
Oh okay I gotcha yeah sounds like it isn't coming off haha, did you have yours sand blasted or did you just sand it yourself?

i did it all myself, no sandblasting though, dont have the equipment for that :doah: i did it all by hand with a wire wheel haha
 
oh i bet that was fun! lol id like to have mine sand blasted when i get to that point but i dont wanna fork over the money haha so il prolly just be doing the same thing
 
it worked good, i got the frame down to bare metal in most places. i forgot to mention before i wire wheeled it i pressure washed it and that knocked off some of the loose paint too.
 
I'd Polly do that too. Because of my dads business he has a bunch of big commercial pressure washers I can use to get all the crap off first

When you painted the nuts and bolts howd you keep from messing up the paint when you tightened them down?

i was just really careful, if you look close there are some places that chipped the paint. Using a 6 pt socket rather than a 12 helped some too im sure.

Can't wait until you drag it back out to continue work in the Spring!
 
Well the day has come, blazer has been in the driveway for a week or two and today finally got it registered and insured. Now i just need to get a parking brake on it so it will pass inspection :doah:

And im sure there will be small problems to work out when i start driving it...but pics to come.....:woot:
 
drove it a little today, need a higher output alternator and the wiper circuit is screwy, keeps blowing fuses.

This funny whining noise happens when im steering sometimes, not sure what it is, tires arent rubbing and it has full fluid.
 
Crazy amount of work you've done. I'm way to lazy to take things apart that far to clean up and paint. Looks clean!! :bow:


Two things though
1) Either nix the T-case drop or get some square stock that spans the length of the crossmember. Those "spacers" will cause the frame to crack when used like that.

2) Nix the front sway bar or check out those nifty end links that help correct for lifted trucks and give some movement for the bar. The ORD ones are nice but I'm talking the links that are actually real end links :waytogo:

PS> giving that heater some serious thought. I'm ditching all my HVAC stuff
