I've got an 82 GMC 3/4 ton that would look great with a set of western hurricanes. Problem is the only new tires I can find are interco which are going to be expensive and bad on the highway or 35" BFG all terrains. The all terrains would be fine but I've only got a 2.5" BDS lift so I doubt they'll clear. I don't think the truck will fit in my garage with the 35's and 4" lift either. Does anyone know if they still make a brand of 33x12.50 in 16.5?

less aggressive tsl and a 33 option and radial .

otherwise min out there these days . I just got 4 new bfg 35 for my set of same rims on my 1ton . found a deal on discount tire ebay store saved me 200 bucks off the 4 price.

I have always been a mud tire guy but after this winter plowing and driving on the bfg at/ko I love them .

16.5s are as good as dead. Interco will probably make them for quite a while but any new tires aren't gonna have any 16.5 sizes

Are you against trimming? My 1984 D30 has 35x12.50x16.5" BFG's on it with no real lift, and slight trimming.

I bought 33x12.50R16.5 bfg AT's just a year or 2 ago.

Id be really surprised if you couldn't still find a set, just probably not online.

I'd call up a few big local tire shops and see what they can find you.

Its true but at the same time its not very smart to invest in a wheel that the next time you need tires theres a decent chance you'll need to buy a different size wheel.

that's why I'm gonna load up on the military bajas as much as I can the next yr or so.. start my own stockpile..... :doah:

Agreed, but if that is the wheel you want, and you can run them for another 40k miles, its probably not a huge investment. To each is own.

Just trying to tell this guy there is a chance.

They are used wheels, they aren't that expensive.

No doubt just trying to play devils advocate and inform the guy that despite possibly finding a regular tire now, its only going to get even harder in the future as he may want to consider that.

Im still not sure why none of these retro wheel companies have re-popped turbine and hurricane wheels yet.

Thanks for all the replies. Sucks that they really don't make 16.5" tires anymore because the turbines would just look right on my truck. I have a feeling BFG is just selling off the rest of the 35" tires they have and probably not making more. With all the retro wheels out there I can't believe someone doesn't repop the turbine for trucks. Always wanted to recreate the Ford from Urban Cowboy and that had westerns on it.

The TRXUS MT's that sweetk30 linked in the first reply are actually really great on and off road tires.

I have been running them for 2 summers now I honestly love them..

I honestly doubt you will find a mud terrain tire that acts as good as these do on the road. The buckshot mudders I had before this were WAY louder on the road. And these have been wearing very nicely for a mud tire on the road.
