You are very much over exadurating. Having 3.55's and starting in 1st is lower than starting in 2nd with 4.10's. The difference between the two ratios in question is not THAT big of a difference, especially when you add in the low end torque of the 6BT/ISB engine. You are over reacting about the difference between the two ratios. I own an '01.5 with 3.55's and have ridden and driven in a few other Dodge CTD's. 3.55's are the only way to go unless you plan on a 35" tire or larger (which would then equal to having 3.55's with stock 31's anyway). 4.10 geared Dodges are worthless with the automatic. It is just geared too low for acceleration, especially unloaded. 3.55's are plenty low with stock tires with an auto. With the 6 spd manual you can get away with the 4.10's but an auto truck is what I'm focused on since that is what Joe has.
Don't pull a Dirtwarrior on us and continue to argue.
I take it you don't know dodges very well. IN 2003 they went to a 3.73 and 4.10 ratio. With second gen trucks like mine and Joes it was either 3.55's or 4.10's. Most rolled out with 3.55's.
