It has always been like this sense I got it, the guy said he bought it new and had 5 hours on the machine but it has a harbor freight ground clamp.
Either way it works and I got a great deal.
I'm guessing it was stored outdoors.

I think the main thing is just stick with what you are most comfortable with and what works for you.
I think being able to set up the machine for the weld you need to do, is 90 percent of what you need to know. Wiggling your hand isn't the part that really matters IMO.
