well thought id start my build thread.. 4 seat exo complete...7/28/10

current up coming mods b4 april trail rides start are glo beadlocks for some wagon wheels, move lights to the grill, add a skidplate, and some door bars

i like the K30, any other plans for it? we should hit the trails together sometime. im down in pittsburgh

yes we should, i have some wheeling areas we can go. we can meet at my place.:D

tell me more about the Westmoreland County Highlands Offroad club in latrobe pa. there's a bunch of people on pghoffroad that go out that way to wheel. i think they mostly do dirt roads or something very close to it.

Westco is a fn place, it is challegeing and easy depending on what you do. it tight for a fullsize depending on the trails. only bad thing is its hard to get into if you dont know a member. where do u wheel in pit area?

ooo ok, i've heard of that place before and how it's hard to be a member. i wheel at places about 40 miles northeast of pittsburgh.

i need my rear driveshaft first! haha but the guy i bought my K10 from lives in mammoth, pa which is by latrobe. i was just up there yesterday and i seen some places off route 982 that looked pretty good. whats this wchoc you speak of?:doah:

id need a more direct question but its a IH divorced case. i used the 2 of the 4 bolt holes on the top as one mount and then made a 1/4" plate to replace the pto cover. then used that as the other mount.....this was all welded to a factory crossmember.

i used the crossmember with the idea to go flat belly. It will work ok but the crossmember flexes alot. using a square tube might be better. the case is also clocked flat. the case must be filled before clocking. the cut case is disassembled and cut on a giant bandsaw, then welded liek you weld cast. it still runs the intermediate shaft.

due to the frame drop i made mounts once i got my height set, so here is some pictures.

so guys im at a crossroads. the truck is too big, heavy, long, wide, etc. you get it.
so my current options are all assuming a 115" wheelbase:

1. narrow front, ditch bed, boatside
2. swap body......usig a sidekick, s10 pickup, s10 blazer?
3. full tube......using a 12pt truck cage...plus tube

so give my your ideas and suggestions

s10 cab, only because that is going to be my next project, or should i say, finishing one of my already started projects. nice and narrow.

yeh i like that idea or boastsiding stock cause im 6'2" and i fit comfy in fullsize....plus boastsiding isnt too hard it seems. with only the cab to do?

any thought on boastsiding from those that have....

Well since it seems like you now what your doing with the metal tools you could shortin the frame and throw a flatbed on it and make it like a shortbox like this.;)

Stick with the fullsize. Everyone likes the small trucks but I love our fullsizes on the trail. There's not as many as I think there should be. But that's just me
Oh and there's nothin wrong with the small trucks I'm just sayin:D

yeh its def getting a diet but i liek the idea of a fullsize rig squeezing through stuff idk. gives ita challenge. and too the sheetmetal comment. yeh im taking most of the center out of the frame from behind the cab to the rear spring mount

shorten the frame and build a tube bed, boatside it, dovetail it, and bob it. would still be a fullsize, it would just have a shorter wheelbase and be a little skinnier
