Hey Guys,
What do you stand on to work on the engine? I've been stacking blocks,
but seem to be constantly moving them or having one slip out from under me at the worst time. If I'm on the road, I usually end up standing on the hub. Sure isn't comfortable and I slip off alot. So ???
Thanks,

you could by a step stool.......... but tht would be too easy.

I put a plywood top on my oversize milk crate. cut a 2x4 to fit inside. on edge, down the middle. put 3" screws from the top through plywood in to 2x4 for strength. been useing it for years now.

thay make stands to hang on tires. ment for big rigs. but good idea to try.

we have those at work............no one ever uses them. ever. we turn the wheels and put stands between the wheel and axle. if its a setback axle. if its set forward, you stand behind the axle.

we got nice aluminum boxes to stand on at work. they're all custom made. grip tape on top.

no wheel wells. I stand on the leaf spring and tie-rod. sometimes on the ground straddling the axle tube.

Works great, until you slip climbing in/out and end up head first halfway down the engine bay, with one hand on pavement and one foot against the hood. That hurts by the way, a LOT. Getting out hurts more.

Milk crate untill it gave out and I made contact with hood latch. Now I use a werner step stool nice and stable.

long 2x6 across the front of truck sitting on some foundation blocks. My dads 79 blazer had a front license plate that folded down into a step thought it was pretty nifty.

just tip open...

I'm on the bumper, tire, or sitting in the engine bay. I had a utility trailer that was perfect to park next to, miss that...
