What do you stand on to work on the engine?

I use the tires for spark plug or anything on the side of the motor, other than that I stand on the front bumper winch plate. dont have a winch yet so its a good place to stand

^^^^^Nice!

I'm only 5'8", so I fold up under the hood. Sit on the rad support, legs straddling the engine. If its just something up fron, I'll throw a pad or blanket onthe rad support and kneel on that. I'm too short to do most stuff from the ground, except maybe belt swaps or battery work.

I remember by buddy's old '72 Ford with an inline 6. There was sooo much space that both of us could sit on the wheel wells and close the hood. And if the tires were turned, one of us could shimmy out the wheel well if we accidentally latched the hood.

I'm 6' and I like to climb in and sit on the passenger side wheel well. Drivers side doesn't work cause there's steering crap and an air horn in the way. Works real good until you're changing the fuel filter on a rainy day and you get out and step on the chrome bumper.......

i was sure someone else does this

1 4x4 sheet of 3/4 ply--throw a corner up over the hood cowl vent. then the other end angles over the hood latch-no pressure on the latch-no pressure on the rad cap- i actually lay down and hang over to do the work-when i need to reach a different side, you can re adjust the wood so you can do stuff on the other side of the bay-then it goes back in to the truck[sub] but i do use a milk crate to climb up and down-very comfy

You and your buddy aren't marmots are you?
Stop nesting under my hood and eating my wiring!:angry1:

I either stand on the tire, front bumper (stock - but the body life gives it some space...), or a 12x12 block of wood that my dad shoved into a jeep rim.

Also do the no wheel well thing, I can get nice and close to the motor without balancing one knee on the alternator and the other on the radiator support. I do have a winch bumper that helps quite a bit also. the stock bumper is pretty sketchy to stand on.

Im small enough that i just sit in the engine bay and rest me feet on frame or steering box

I have a few old pics when I was 16 of myself buried up to my neck inside the engine bay. It was funny bc I used to work on the truck in the street, and people would be constantly honking and hollering. I must have looked ridiculous poking out of such a huge Blazer.

These days I simply flip over a large galvanized bucket I use for tailgating.
