I need to swap from autos to manuals on my 10b under the burb. I'm trying not to go warn premiums cause I cant see $250-$300 for them and I almost never really use 4x4 in it anyway. My autos have let me down twice now in snowy conditions around town.

Which brands or models are better / worse?

I like Warns because Superwinch is a 3/4 turn dial, and "Aint nobody got time for that".

And the cheapie warns, not them d@mn premium ones. I like them because they are cheap, and they break before anything else. Replacing a locking hub takes 10min, pulling an axle takes more time.

I got the regular warns and couldnt be happier.

I dont see a point in spending the big money on premiums for the burb rick.

You dont use it enough or dogg on it to the point of wrecking standard ones.

I got mine for a steal at $45 new.. Normally go for $90.

The internals look much better than the milemarker hubs I had before..

This last pic is flipped. Warn coil spring on the left.

For sure, the 10 bolt locking hubs (internal style) should be nowhere near $200.

The earlier, 3/4 ton Dana 44 external locking hubs are more expensive but the internal (later) hubs are cheap.

I vote Warn and don't look back.

Nope. Warn on the right. MM on the left.

You can tell cuz the one on the right is super clean and brand new, and the left is dirty.

$250-300?!?!

I just ordered a set for $105, shipped. One of mine was popping for a reason i couldn't figure out, so i ordered a new set. I got a good 5 yrs out of the last set, and they were used when i got them.

Curious what other good options there are out there though.

I dont remember where I seen that price but it was like $249 or something crazy:eek1: I may go that route for $105 though:thinking: Its overkill for my application Like adam said.. But the center dial color would match the bottom color of the burb nicely:D I was gonna pay $90 for whatever set advanced auto had:dunno: till I thought of this thread

When I did my hubs on my Burban I ended up with Warn Premiums and I loved them, later I found out how cheap the regular Warns were. But I was happy regardless.

The ones I'v elooked at in the last few min are deffinately not that expensive. I must have been looking at the wrong model or something. I will need the spindle nut conversion kit though. thats another $50

And all the decriptions say BLACK dial........ I like the gold:confused:

Summit has the warn premiums at $1 cheaper than the warn standards:screwy:

When did you cut the puffy balls off your socks?:haha:

I vote Warn. They have served me well. I broke one when I drove home with a broken axle shaft but it was a sacrifice I decided to make.

I have broken 2 warns. But these trucks are so common in the junkyards, and the auto hubs sucked so much balls, warns are common in the yards as well. I usually pull one or two off every time I go, just to have a spare. Plus, I trade them to buddies for various bottles of liquor.

Hm. Cause the warn premiums have that wave style spring in them. The standard warn's don't do it for me. But to each their own.

around here square bodies spend 1 month in the yard and there CRUSHED:doah: Yards 45 min from here so frequent trips arent common.

I'm sold on the warns now. Looks like no contest. And I'm gonna do the premiums just because I have the money now and They should last me forever in this truck.

:thumb: Thanks guys

Ahhhh, there are 70s era trucks in ours. I just found a 67ish Buick 4 door with a complete 455 in it the other day. Thing still ran, rearend locked up according to the yard paint on the side. Seen some 70s Stangs and older era Porches as well.

I vote for the superwinch I broke 2 sets of warn standards, and then bought the superwinch ones for 20 bucks cheaper, they lasted me the next 2 years when I sold that axle.

I wheeled it hard too.

I doubt you would have any issue with any of them Rick
