To the left of the steering wheel, right underneath the headlight switch. I don't have a decent picture of the area and the only video I have is a pretty fuzzy one that my buddy shot with his iphone.

I want to buy a new bezel from the classified's. The one I want to buy doesn't have a hole for this knob. Before I send the guy some cash, I'd like to know what it is so I can decide what to do about it.

This is the add for the new bezel-

Im curious too. But im guessing 75% chance that its not factory.

Not factory is good. If it's not something critical, I can get rid of it and not have to cut a hole in the new bezel. I guess i should email my buddy that has the truck and ask him what it does.

Bingo. A quick look at the wires will tell you if it look factory. Trace the wires if you really care what it is, and it doesn't work. My shot in the dark would be fog lights or something.

I wish I could just go outside and look at it myself....being 8k miles away makes that tough. lol!

I dunno about fog lights though, the truck doesn't have anything like that.

I have pictures of the truck from 2 owners before me, no lights or anything else that I can see bolted to the exterior. I suppose that doesn't really mean anything though. Whatever the switch was for could have been removed. PO's definitely have a rep for doin weird ****. :doah:

Yah, its anyone's guess.

For all we know, it could drop a disco ball and turn on underglow lights from the bottom of the truck. :woot::haha:

If it were me, I'd just order the bezel. If you need the switch, you can drill a hole, or relocate it.

I wouldn't' be too concerned about it though.

I'm not to concerned about it really....I'm just bored out of my mind sitting here 8k miles away from the truck. So I obsess about **** like this. :haha:

I am soooo looking forward to getting my hands on this thing. It's been quite a few years since the truggy got parted out, and I'm itchin to get back into tinkering on one of these trucks. And this is pretty much a rough version of my dream truck, so that makes it even harder to cope. :doah::haha:

Thats what i figured :D

Pretty much what i do at work, but on a different time/distance scale.

Sure its a switch? Looks like a choke knob or some kind of cable actuated gadget.
Picture's too fuzzy to be sure, but I thought it might be a manual front axle actuator.
Best way to figure it out, since you can't get to it to trace it, is have your friend crank it up, tie a string to it, get behind something and pull.

I did basically the same thing when I installed a loaded CB in my first air bag equipped car.
There were all sorts of horror stories about what would set one off, so after I got the rig mounted, I cranked the car, stood outside it with the mic out the window and keyed it.
No boom, so I got in and drove it.

It seems to me that if you are driving down a highway, and your airbag deploys, it creates an immediate need for its self.......

Whatever it is it's not factory, my 91 V3500 did not have anything there. The wiper switch is on the turn signal lever (you can see the chrome tab sticking up that's for the washer squirters).

X2 My 89 doesnt have it either

I sent an email to my buddy asking him to try to figure out what it is and what it does.

Maybe it opens a secret hidden panel under the seat containing a big ass bag full of $100 bills.:haha:

To tell the truth, I've known this guy for goin on 25 years. I would trust him with somethin like that. I have relatives I wouldn't trust that far. :eek1::doah:

Well the headlights on my truck have been turning on and off at random times and now I know why. PLEASE STOP FLIPPING THAT SWITCH!
