well, my problem isn't as bad as i thought it would be. I ended up burning up another push button ignition and completely melted the elctrical fitting on the two fusible link wires that connect to the large power screw on the starter selenoid. Replaced that stuff again, but now the starter is tired and needs replacing. The bendix gear return spring doesn't have the "umph" to pull the gear back off the flywheel so any time i try and start i have to go punch it off the fly wheel with a flathead. It almost started at the beginning of today, but the starter clearly told me that it's had enough. So now i'm trying to scrap up the money for the 28mt gear reduction starter and i will try it again.
