what mufflers are you guys running

Back when my exhaust routing was mostly stock, I replaced the stock muffler with a Flowmaster 50 series, 3" in/out, still had the stock 2.5" Y-pipe setup into the stocl pancake style big Cat, was a nice mellow tone, especially with the tailpipe. Once the tailpipe was removed, it got significantly louder.

I plan on redoing the exhaust system when I get the truck running and back here with me, removing the headers and replacing with stock manifolds, Y-pipe setup, freeflowing Cat and probably another 50 or even a 70 series sounding style muffler, either Flowmaster or Hooker brand. Something with a little rumble to it, but not loud anymore.

Something quieter...:D

i was told i need new headers because i have long tube muffler guy "it will put your cat to far back and it will cost 950.00":eek1: what the hell happened? a grand for exhaust?2.5 y 3" out, for a grand!!!! mangna flow and cat and pipe

Two words = new shop.

I have less money than that in new headers, HPC coating, muffler and pipe work. Run away...

I run the cheapest turbo muffler that will fit. I don't even know what brand mine is anymore flowtech or something cheap. Cost me 25 bucks for the muffler.

I tend to dent them up and when you do that alot to flow masters it breaks the welds on the baffles and then they are LOUD and very annoyingly rattly

Flowmaster all the way here from my daily driver to my Blazer. Nice tone throughout RPM range. I run super 40's on both my 2000 Z71 and on my K5. Single 3" in and dual out on the Silverado and dual 2 1/2" on the Blazer.

Nice tone at idle, quiet at cruising and good ole Flowmaster Rumble when you open the old girls up...

Check out this muffler comparison made by one of Flowmasters tech's. Maybe a Hushpower is in your future?

I run magaflows on my 01 chev, and a ferd service Van , they have a great refined sound ,I dig em!

Full 3" duals with Summit welded race mufflers behind my 6.2. Haven't cut one open, but I'd wager they are built similar to Flowmaster 40's. Big difference is the Summit ones are $29 each...

It's a little rowdy, but the truck has decent sound deadening, carpet, etc...so even on the freeway it's more than quiet enough to have a conversation.

My 79 pickup has a built 406 sbc thorley headers 2.5" Y pipe to 3" cat and 3" in/out flow-master super 44 with mandrel bent tail pipe to stock location. It is just quiet enough inside for daily driving (45 to 90 min each way to work) It doesn't have the bad drone that the 40 series has. It has a great idle and is very loud when I get on it.

My 88 K5 has the stock original 350 with stock manifolds, newer cat, 2.5" or better single pipe and a 70 series flow-master. It has a nice idle to it. It sounds like a performance muffler but isn't loud. When you get on it you can hear the exhaust a bit but still easily carry on a conversation inside. It doesn't have any drone inside. I think it is great for an SUV. Sometimes I want it to sound like my pickup, but that would suck in a blazer body.

i run long tubes with 2.5in pipe to the crossmember and some knock off flowwmaster type single chamber race mufflers. Just slightly quieter than open headers but has that flowmaster sound
