what shocks are you running?

Running Bilstein 5150's. Was going to run the Poly Performance shocks but they were on backorder. So far so good, but no real runtime on them. Also, found the Bilstein's on sale from an internet site.

anyone heard anything good or bad about edelbrock IAS shocks??? i know they came in standard, dual wall, and remote reservoir styles. Just didnt know if anyone had tried them or heard anything about them. They sound like a pretty cool design, i had been planning on running them on my camaro, and then on the truck, but cant find any reviews anywhere.

I got two pro Comp's and two Gabriels . Cheap , and seem to be made by the same manufacturer anyway . 3 years plus , no fading yet , other than bushing ( I wheel alot ) and being dirty , they drive like the day I got them :thumb:

I think Gabriel makes shocks for a few different companies.

i was looking for that chart. who'd you order yours off of??

running Rancho 5000s here. the front 2 are fairly new but stiff (to stiff for me ended up airing down the front tires to soften the ride as they tend to be cavity rattlers) and the back 2 are blown (didn't realize it until I took some of the extras off my truck had 11 shocks when I bought it now down to 6)

i'll be running the BBCS from Poly Performance. they have a built in bumpstop, available in 11, 13, 15" travel lengths and are 99 each. the only drawback is that everyone on pirate wants these and they're on back order until july.

Where have these been all my life? :D I definitely like the looks of these. Hopefully the Canadian distributer has them in stock so I can avoid the wait!

Direct from Doetsch Tech. I communicated with them almost completely by e-mail. I used their e-mail on the contact page, IIRC it's an AOL address. :dunno:

well they're a Poly Performance product, that they have on backorder, so i think any distributors would have them on back order as well. thanks mrK5.

You're welcome. :D

And I believe you are correct. It is my understanding that Poly Perf is the developer and manufacturer (direct or indirect :dunno: ) of the BBCS shock. Anyone else would just be getting it from them.

Generally speaking, up here, most parts come from one of several distributers. So the parts are already here, sitting in a warehouse.

Likely, here, they are not as much of a hot ticket item. Though that same thinking might mean that there aren't m(any) sitting on the shelf.

I'll let you guys know. Though our dollar is pretty strong it still might be worth while for some of you guys south of the border.

I run Rancho 9000x with the in cab remote, all I have to say is for a dual purpose rig I have zero complaints. Stiff when they need to be and soft when they need to be. And for some reason that does not sound right??

Questions

Bringing this one back. I finished the shackle flip and zero rates to raise the truck from the 2 1/2 inch lift to a 5" total lift (4" lift with zero rates)

I have almost new RS 5000 for the 4" lift truck. I had one trail ride and less than 250 miles before the new lift. The shocks now bottom out long before the suspension bottoms.

Is there a shock that can accomodate full suspension travel from full compression to full bottom (drop) with stock mounting points?

I want to stay around the $50 to $75 (each) area.

I am thinking about posting up on local CL the four RS5000 shocks, 2 1/2 inch front Rancho springs and blocks for trade for four shocks that would work on my truck. Think that is a fair deal??? For the mods - I'm not offering it here, just asking "What's it worth?":D

If I am correct you need to measure your suspension at full flex and full compression to find out what size shock you need, at that point you can really choose any brand of shock you want based on the measurements

I run Bilstein 5150's up front and 5125's out back and I've been happy with them so far...

I just bought Procomp Nitros...hope they hold up well!

I've had RS9000s and was not really impressed with the ride. IIRC the internals are not really different than any of the cheap shocks, so the ride isn't going to be much better. Do a little research on shock tech and you'll find out why everyone loves monotubes. BTW, I also have pc9000s now and they are crappy, too. I just went with them because I couldn't afford the monotubes right then and I got a good package deal.
