What size PVC are runflats made from?

Will check at the plumbers tomorrow. Maybe they will have some scrap pieces leftover from a job and want to get rid of it for next to nothing just to reclaim some shop or storage space.

That would be the best.

My boss would say "well it costs this much a foot sooooo, half of that" or something.

Except for me, I get lots of pipe for free, or a 30 rack :waytogo:

Why not make them out of aluminum?

roll some sheet and then roll some aluminum tubing for the edges.....

I dont have any h1s or know anyone with them... but If you remind me tomorrow morning Ill see what sizes of pipe we have outside.
I got a set Adam....I thiink it depends on the tire as well for proper width?

The width of the TWF inserts is 6.75". They told me they don't worry about 8-bolt vs. 12-bolt, radial vs. bias, they just hit the impact, except in cases of really thick beads, like some pit bulls and swampers. There is probably a list on Pirate of which tires require thinner inserts. The ID is something like 16-17". Sorry I can't be precise, but the only one I have unmounted is cut in half. Since it's a 16.5" wheel, the ID must be close to that. I can tell you that unmounted, the OZ radial is right at 16" ID. Compare that to this picture from TWF and you're probably close enough to choose from standard sized PVC pipe:

Yes, they are just PVC with a taper on the inside (to match the taper of the rim going into the bead) and a hole drilled (for the air to flow through), but the key is to get them cut really square. I looked around for a bit and couldn't find the pipe for any less than what TWF sells the inserts for, so I didn't bother finding somebody to cut them square. That was the general consensus in threads I found, too.

BTW, while getting the PVCs in is a hassle, getting them out is truly a PAIN. So plan ahead to avoid test fitting.

Just buy em from TWF....

ask 1970worthog how hard it is to source em.... :haha:

its effin ridiculous!:doah:
price and availability. i tried sourcing both 16" sched 80 or to use exactly what twf uses...16" C905 DR25 pvc pipe.

everyplace i called wanted a minimum order of 1 stick (10-12ft) at $50-60/foot.:eek1:

make it easier on yourself and just buy twf. i ordered mine Friday morning at 9ish and it was shipped by 11ish and showed up Tuesday. definitely worth the money. :thumb:

but the dimensions are
OD: 17-3/8"
ID:16"
Depth:6.75 (was perfect for my 37" ssr's and mikes 37" goodyears)
and wall thickness:0.695"

just my experience:D

Yep, just as I quoted somewhere up above that someone here has got to have a set and low and behold! He spoke up!

Best valuable info in this quote above thus far. Those measurements will come in handy.......when I find that cheap stick somewhere! :doah::haha:

One more thing to look for: actual true one-piece rubber runflats from Hutchinson.

No, not the 2-piece like we see in these pics on other sites but a true 1-piece that Hutch made for the aluminum DOD 2-piece beadlock wheels also made by Hutch.

I had a set of these wheels once but sold them to make extra coin off them. They had a simple rubber beadlock with no ridge or bumps on them. Just flat all the way around.

Stazworks has hdpe inserts that are "indestructable"
I breifly looked into it but it was worse trying to find that stuff than pvc :haha:

I see Staz's price for them is the same as Fabworthys PVC pieces.

And what does HDPE stand for?
