What size PVC are runflats made from?

Just checked, biggest we have layin behind the shop at the moment is 12". I know we just did a job using 18" sch80 so maybe some pieces will come back in the near future.

Was looking on twf's site they also have cut down rubber runflats for a lot cheaper price, opinions?

Still a 2-piece. Prefer 1 like the pics I showed above of the Hutchinsons.

Honestly, for $20, what's wrong with the cut down rubber ones? 1 piece inserts are a real pain to work with. If you could get the black Hutchinson style they might compress better, but IIRC they only came with 16" wheels, not 16.5". Anything that is easy to get in and out will be soft enough to allow potential bead loss at some point. Hence the 2-piece systems. Some guys are even cutting their PVCs in half with good results.

EDIT: Ever try to pull a 1-piece insert out of a tire? You're gonna end up strapping the tire to your truck and the insert to a tree or something.

doubt it for less than $50. Is that what the PVC's are going for?

Come to think of it, there was a guy selling steel inserts on Pirate. They were like a rolled up ladder. I have no idea the cost or how durable they were, but I think they were advertised as being lighter than PVC and cheaper to ship.

Dean Reed is the person who makes those steel inserts.

This thread has some good info plus pictures of those dean reed inserts at the bottom of the page: http://www.pirate4x4.com/tech/billavista/PR-Hummer_Rims/

Also this thread has some good info as well: http://www.pirate4x4.com/forum/gene...7679-pvc-beadlock-inserts-hummvee-wheels.html

Just some more info

If you want to cut some out for some BFG Baja T/A's there are ones with a rim protector and ones without it. The width on the PVC insert for the tires WITH the rim protector is 7". I don't know about the ones without them.
