What the...glow plugs not coming on?

So...desertrat67 says his plug there doesn't wiggle. Mine does quite a bit. Stays in place but definitely wiggles. Wondering...

Anybody else have a setup like ours? Does your plug there wiggle?

If I think about it tonight I will look at my '90. It's been awhile since I messed with it but from memory it was a pretty solid connection...meaning no wiggle and took a decent amount of force to pull it off.

Ever get a chance to look at that?

So could someone get me a good up close and personal shot of this? I was having trouble again this morning and I got out and played with it. Thing wiggles like a fat girl in spandex running for a bowl of BBQ. Think I found my trouble but not sure if it's the relay, the plug, or maybe a missing connector or retainer?

Since I have nothing better to do tomorrow, I will help you out. Give me a text sometime as a reminder(the brain only functions for short periods of time on any one subject).

These neat things that remind you to do stuff.

Like this. Get me a picture of your plug thingy for the gp's.

Here you go.

Seems to me like mine is missing the clip thingy on the back. I'll check tomorrow after work and the house showing.

GUESS WHAT?

It wouldn't start today so I actually had to finally dig into the thing. Did the trouble shooting chart in my FSM and yep...the controller is bad. Found two in Traverse City and having one delivered right now.

The clip is there too. Crossing my fingers and hoping it's just the controller that's dead and nothing else. I have to go to work!

Victory!

Well, it cost me $100 and 8 hours off work but I beat the damn thing. New one bolted right in place and clicks on right after you turn the key just as it should.:D

Thanks. I feel like I should have dicked with this months ago but then again it always worked. Not correctly but it did always work...then this morning nothing...at all...

Yeah...so guess what didn't come on today after work? The glow plug light naturally.

Cranked it and nothing.

Cranked it again and nothing.

Let it sit and then cranked it again and this time the light came on as the engine was cranking. Stopped, let it go off, and then it started up bellowing dieselly fumes out the tailpipes.

After getting home I let it sit for a good 3 hours and the light came right on and the truck started right up.

Hrmmmm...does it again and I'm trouble shooting the thing. Just kinda wondering if it was sitting in the sun at 70 degrees all day and was JUST warm enough to not have the sensor come on but just cool enough to not want to start...?
