I have a '84 3/4 ton, 2wd Chevy with A/C and decent tires. It has a 3.73 geared SF14 and excellent condition 700R4. The engine is a 6.2. The paint is faded, but there's no rust and only a few very minor dents. It's got 163K miles. How much would you expect to pay for it? I have very little $$ invested in it and priced it to a friend for $500...complete with a spare engine out of a CUCV. (The spare engine is supposed to run, but I haven't seen it actually do it) The friend wants to know if I'll take less, but I thought regardless of what I have in it that I was giving him a great deal. If he decides not to buy it, I was gonna put it in the trader for $2100 with my bottom dollar being $1500. Even though my total investment in the truck is less than $100 (not counting about a day of my time), should I:
A) sell it to him for $500 like I already offered

B) sell it to him for just over what I have in it

C) sell it to someone else for what it's worth

D)you tell me?

If you offered it for $500 and he doesn't want it for that then sell it elsewhere for what it's worth.

X2

You're already giving your friend a smokin deal...if he is trying to chisel the price down from there I'd definitely nix the deal and sell it for it's real worth.

!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! !!!!!!!!! 500 bux??

All I can say is I wish I had a friend like you!...the spare MOTOR is worth 500 alone, never mind a running driveable truck!...

In any running condition it's worth a grand, the extra motor? $400 - $500, even if you can't prove it runs.

Your bud is passing on a smokin' deal. Go the trader route. List on Craig's List as well.:D

E) Drive it to canada and sell it to darkshadow for 500.

I vote E.

your friend doent sound like much of a friend

I think the main problem is that he knows I have less than $100 total investment in the truck. However, he's also seen me driving it around town and he knows that it only needs a few little odds and ends to be driven reliably every day. I will hold true to my word with him, but if he doesn't want it, I'll gladly sell it here instead of the trader.

Update to the A/C: Will work, but only for a few minutes. Aluminum fitting bolted to compressor has crack on discharge side. $70 buys the fitting with all new hoses connected to it. I'm leery of paying $35 for the same part at the junk yard. Add in cost of dryer and orifice tube and the A/C is ready for the next 10 years for under $100. If I sell it here, I'd be glad to fix it before selling.

Thanks for everyone's feedback on this.

I am looking for a dd that can tow on occasion and am very interested with ca$h in hand ready to negotiate. The dd K5 is bleeding on my driveway and needs some R&R.

Negotiations are in the works. I'll know by the weekend. If the current deal is no-go, I'll post pics and further details.

I missed a 3/4 diesel that was local in the same price range. I'm trying to find a dd for mileage, A/C and longevity. I have a M1008 at home for spare parts as well.

I want to be clear, but I don't want to be rude. I just want to make sure that we are talking $1500 range.

Yep, Just want to see pics first

Just got a lead on a crew diesel in Biloxi area today as well.

Negotiations complete. I'm selling it to the friend for the agreed upon price. I do, however, have a 95 Dodge Dakota for sale in the complete vehicles forum. It's in mint condition...but I understand completely if you want something a little bigger.
