[It was recommended I start a new thread here. Original posting was in the "Interior - Stock & Custom" section]

I'd like to put a rear seat in my 1973 K5, but I've read conflicting information about which model year seats will fit mine. I'm trying to make everything as close to stock as possible.
I read somewhere that they changed the seats in 1975 to be able to flip down, so I'm not sure if that means only those seats from '73 and '74 would fit in mine.

I'm also not sure if the original owner of my vehicle ordered it without the rear seat option (I think I remember seeing in the sales brochure that you could order with or without the passenger or rear seats). It looks like there may be some caulked holes or something where the seat bolts would go. If mine never had rear seats, will I be able to remove that caulking and just bolt in the seats or will I need to drill the holes?

Thanks!

Cant really tell you 100% on the seat change. My 73 was similar, bought with no rear seat, found one years ago seat with the correct brackets. I would think that most any correct width bench seat could be made to fit with the relatively simple mounts, so just modify to make it work. Its just 4 "Z" shaped brackets that bolt to the floor and the frame of the factory seat.

As for the silicone in the holes, yep, just clean it out with a pick, then should have factory threaded mounts available.

nope. it also has silicone in the bolt holes. that tire print on the seat is from whatever vehicle it used to be installed in.

73-77 should be the same. 78 the floor was changed as well as the mounting system for the rear seat to make is easy to remove. Don't know if the older blazer rear seats will fit. 3rd row Suburban seats I understand are the same in the era off the 70 years but cant verify.
I threw my rear seat away over 20 years ago which I regretted.
I found one in a 76 blazer at a yard and grabbed it some years ago. Don't see them around much and then they carry a high price if from a private seller.
