what years were the k30s built?

what years were the k30s built? did they all have 4x4 d60 14ff 454 th400

d60 started showing up in 77 i believe, although ive seen some people say that it started in 78.... Up until the demise of the straight axle in..... uhhh, 91? i think.... lol... Im sure some number number guru will chime in with the definite answer, but i know im close :D

*edit, I think they made the crew cab k30 with a d60 front in 91. just no standard cabs.

According to a Chevy book I have K30's were built from 77 to 87. 77 was only drw with srw following in 78. In 88 it became the V30.

And as the V30, was the same truck as the k30 til 91. 91 was the only year to not get a th400, and got a 4l80e (electronic th400+over drive, basically)

Actually '87 was the V-series truck. The V's ran from '87 to '91.

Oh yeah, I know this for fact because I have an '87 K30 dually and the title says a V on it.

They were also available with 292's and 350's. Manual tranny was the SM465. Very few 292 models around, most were exported.
Most of these K30's with the inline 6's usually ran the 4.56 gears.

Don't forget K30's that came out with diesels, too.

My old man actually had a 79 K30 once that came factory with a 292/SM465/4.56's and a not so sexy long bed step side. He traded it for a K5, which I bought off of him a week later. That's how I ended up with my K5, that was 20 years ago.

dang! i want an longbed stepside SO BAD!

Now that I think about it the 79 K30 dully I had 5 years ago came factory with a 350/400/203. I ended up parting it out due to the rotted body. Sold the front axle and tranny/t-case to Eric M. down in San Fran. Now that dude has some bad ass K30's

From 1977-1991 (K30 from 1977-1986, V30 in 1987 and 1988, and V3500 from 1989-1991 I believe).

The first few years they were available with either a straight six or a small block, they weren't available with big blocks until the early '80s though, not sure of the year. Also not sure what the first year you could get a diesel in one.

They all had Dana 60 fronts, the DRWs have Dana 70 rears and the SRWs have 14bff's.

You could get them with either a SM465/NP205 or a TH400/NP205 (4L80E/NP205 in 19991).
