Whatchya building for BB17?

My far out grand plan is to build a little lightweight buggy that the crew cab can tow. Then I can use the crew for easier trails, and the buggy for the difficult stuff.

On a few in between trails it would be fun to pull into the lot with the crew cab towing the buggy and leave only the trailer behind. That's assuming the wife or one of my sons is ready to trail ride.

:yikes:

It's 1011 miles to Moab, so my checklist has as much roadworthiness stuff as it does trail prep.
  • Fix high frequency driveline vibration
  • New rear pinion seal
  • Replace 1997 alarm system
  • New shocks
  • Build at least one anti roll bar
  • Install and tune for a larger turbo
  • Glowplug system maintenance
  • Design/build internal gear storage for spares and tools
  • Fix a handful of rattles
  • Install roof insulation and new headliner
  • Sliders
  • Grab handles
  • Put lots of proving miles on the setup
  • Figure out a route that has customer stops along the way...
I live by lists, so this will evolve. See y'all there.

Why keep jacking with it? It works great as is :)
I bent the frame behind the cab so I need to fix that and the 4.3 just isn't up to tow duties when I'm dragging my trailer around.

Suspension upgrades are because I like to go fast over bumps :)

Also, have you met me? I can't leave anything alone.

I need to get my adjustable prop valve plumbed into my rear brakes, install the jump seat in place of the console up front, swap my rear diff cover, swap out my front springs, and maybe get a new rear driveshaft but prob not. Oh and buy a tow rig and maybe a house too.

To help shorten your list, can I suggest not worrying about that row rig and just drive that sweet blazer to Moab! It adds to the trip and potentially gives makes an extra opportunity to meet some great people. :thumb:

I thought about that. It might be an option. I need a new truck anyway since my super duty got totalled.

Moab is 7 hours for me, not sure how I'm going to get the 82 over this year. I may have to drive it in convoy with my buddy towing his k5.
