from what I hear Carter AFB = Edelbrock Performer Series, since edelbrock bought the molds from carter

I have a stock quadrajet and it is ok but I HATE the elec. choke, and have a 4150 Holly square-bore, 650 cfm, manual choke ready to go on it!

The great thing is that Holley carb are infinately tunable...

Which is good because you have to constantly do it.

yea carter AFBs and edelbrock performers are completely identical i have a performer main body with a carter top

I'm running a qjet on a built 350. But I'm having trouble with the wide open throttle "bog". It seems to do great in 2nd gear, but 3rd and 4th and about half throttle it "bogs out"...Not too impressed and I can't seem to fix it....

I put in an "other" vote. I ran a predator carb in my last Jeep w/350. Took a while to get set up (a lot of jet/meter combos to go through) but once it was done it was foolproof - or at least smarter then this fool!:p:

I'm currently running an Edelbrock Q-Jet #1902. It started immediately from the moment I installed it. The only thing I did was to go smaller on the jets as I live in high altitude. It's been running great ever since.

It's gonna be replaced with an ASM EFI manifold and a megasquirt computer, though.

porno? What are you talking about? I don't know what you're talking about :D

Go to megasquirt.org if you want to learn about the megasquirt ECM. It's a DIY computer kit that can be bought completely disassembled or ready to install. Harnesses are cheap as well, unlike TPI ones.

There's a reason 99.8% of boats made in the last 25 yrs run Quadrabogs...

When I was a kid I liked Holleys, before I knew anything...

Tho tweaking a Quadrabog to a particular application may be a little more involved than a Holley, it's my choice in carbs for any stock to moderate application.. Once dialed, they are sweet...

Doug Roe's book is a nescessity....

I have a 500 cfm Carter AFB. It works great for me, but my truck is not an off-roader. I've heard that the AFBs don't run too well off road...

i have a carter AFB on my 454, and it does awesome. i just went to Hungry Valley (Gorman, California) last weekend and it not once starved my engine of fuel. i was personally very pleased because it was the first time i went wheeling on very steep hills, rocks, off camber, etc... there was a point where i was at about a 45* for a couple of minutes crawling a hill and it did great.
