what's the dumbest thing you have seen someone do??

Re: what\'s the dumbest thing you have seen someone do??

Oh man when you said gas tank you just reminded me of what this guy did like 3 months ago in my home town. This family definatly the ultimate white trash in Early, have pretty much their own junkyard and the one son, who is probably close to 28 and still lives at home has a racecar, well hes always getting other cars like his for fenders, doors, etc. well the last car he got, he was removing the half full gas tank...needless to say he had 2nd and 3rd degree burns on his one arm and the 4 car shed burned to the ground with the other 3 cars in there, including a REAL nice 60s Galaxy

I dropped a carb on a battery once, and burned all the skin off my hand getting out from under the hood of my truck.

lets not forget the time you pulled the driveshaft and the truck rolled down the driveway, and into the ravine across the street. /forums/images/graemlins/histerical.gif

Re: what\'s the dumbest thing you have seen someone do??

Once a friend and I put a new motor in his Suburban. The starter wouldnt kick over. After 2 hours of tracing wires, changing starters and standing there wondering, I asked him if he had pushed the clutch pedal down when he tried starting it. Nope. Darn nuetral safety switches.

Some friends of mine built this "sled" out of a piece of tin, boards and 2 tires, and wanted to get pulled up the road. It held up to 35mph speeds just fine.

A friend of mine got his '74 Jimmy 4x4 stuck on the car mounds at my place. Afterwards, another friend who resurrected a '71 Datsun hatchback from our boneyard, drove over the same mound without problem.

A friend got a brand new rebuilt SB400 for his Blazer. Couldnt get it to run right. I ended up with it. Found the following when I took stuff off the motor cause I had a feeling:

1) JB welded and rusted bottomed oil pan (he wanted to use it cause it was a gold painted one).

2) Used oil pickup tube and screen, hammered on and majorly dented, with particles of bearing material in the screen from a previous motor.

3) Every gasket leaked.

4) One used push rod cause they bent one new one upon installing the motor somehow.

It only had about 1 hour running time on it when I got it. (good thing). I only re-used the shortblock itself.

While laying under my k5 putting a shift kit in one day, not thinking about what I was doing... I clicked it into neutral. /forums/images/graemlins/eek.gif The instant that thing dropped out of park I realized what I did and got my foot up on the back tire before it rolled much. Luckily the driveway wasn't sloped real bad and I was able to hold it while I put it back in park. That's when I decided it was time to take a break and have lunch.

Dumbest thing I've ever seen someone do?? Race in a Honda. Talk about how fast a 4 cly car is. Or, this one idiot I knew put bearing grease on his rotors because his breaks squeaked.

Re: what\'s the dumbest thing you have seen someone do??

Yep--I've had customers throw a set of disc brake pads on the counter and demand a refund "because they squeak, even after spending 3 bucks for this Anti-Squeak crap you sold me"!--the pads were smeared about a 1/4 inch thick with the anti-squeak stuff--ON THE FRICTION SIDE OF THE PADS!! /forums/images/graemlins/rotfl.gif /forums/images/graemlins/rotfl.gif /forums/images/graemlins/rolleyes.gif /forums/images/graemlins/screwy.gif /forums/images/graemlins/screwy.gif

I have a story like this...I believe I was doing an oil change/chassis lube on my truck when it started to roll. It ended up using my right leg as a wheel chock, and the d44 smashed my head into the driveway (ouch!), then pinned it down (my truck was stock at this point). I was stuck and had to yell for my dad, who came out and pushed it forward a few inches to get it off my head. Damn that hurt.

Making the buttons in Brail at the DRIVE THRU ATM machine. I hope blind people aren't driving to the bank /forums/images/graemlins/rotfl.gif

Re: what\'s the dumbest thing you have seen someone do??

i think they do that because they use the same machine for the ones that arent drive thrus, so they dont have to make more parts, and that saves them money
