Whats the thing you find the hardest to do on your rig/

heater core replacement.
Cause it doesn't get terribly cold here, unless you look to drive when and at the coldest places, I'd just bypass the damn heater core lol. That doesn't sound fun at all.
That and all you rust belt body panel fixers out there. I think I'd truggy it. Sawzalls and angle grinders are funner to use. :woot:

screw that truggy noise!!! I like being able to role up the windows and crank the heat or A/C and stay warm-or-cool and clean and dry!!

I am NOT looking forward to changing my ball joints :(

Everything else has been easy & OK, but the ball joints... ugh!

I have a 40 ton press in my garage and ALL the tools needed for the job with some press adapters I made just for doing Chevy 4x4 ball joints. The hardest (longest) part is taking it apart to change the ball joints. You know, Rohnert Park isn't too far from me, about and hour drive. :thumb:

Heater core with AC, Diesel and with that sound insulating cover. I spent the better part of 6 hours doing that job on my 83 pick-up. I counted on all day, and made a point of every fastener and clip going right back where it belonged. It's one of the few times i haven't had any extra stuff left over when i was done...but it's a sucky job for sure.

Rust repair...done it a few times now and still haven't lost my distaste for it.

I have been putting off getting my truck's axles re-geared forever... Just such a huge expense... My truck has been a gutless wonder since I swapped from 34s to 37s without changing my gears.

That, and I have really been putting off changing the heads, injection pump and injectors on my 6.2L diesel to fix the cracked heads and worn out injection system.

Hardest thing for me to do is find the motivation. I can and have done almost everything on 4x4's. I've completeley rebuilt 3 CJ's, 2 early Bronco's, a 1972 Ford F100, several Chevy C/K 10's. I bought an 83 K5 when I first retired from the MIlitary in 2004, bought all the replacement body/bed pnl's and tailgate, couldn't get motivated and there it sat. I found my 82 K30, I think in 06-early 07 I bouoght it for $500.00, guy did a complete body off resto, I mean the thing is mint !!! I just needed to drop the 350 in it. Well, the engine is in, and now I'm sitting here waiting on going over and picking up the freshly rebuilt carb and installing it, that's all it needs. I don't know if this PTSD thing is focking with my motivation or what. I just can't get going on any of the things I used to love doing.

The hardest thing ive done alone so far was replace the gas tank/lines on my 76 k5. using your knees to hold the tank between the frame rails while trying to secure the straps in a cold oily driveway sockks. I didnt think to use a floorjack to hold it up till later :doah:. The price of youth i suppose, I have extra energy to do all the work required since i dont know how to do it the easy way.

I'm in the middle of swapping all of my good stuff out of my K5 (axles, powertrain, lift, swing pedals, etc) into a K20 and a body swap in addition. I always forget how much work goes into that job.

That being said, I stripped the body and box off of the K20 frame I'm using in about 3 hours by myself the other evening. Having my own hoist helps.

Everything, I'm inexperience and have to come here for most of my help.

Don't tell anyone though, I work at a dealership... :haha: I'm just a good BSer to pass I guess.

I just finished wire wheeling all the rust off my 56" leaf springs for the front of the CC.
Now I have the black lung!

Read the good threads on this site regarding this. Really, i didn't hit any snags with the provided instructions. Could do it again in 4 hours i bet.

Changing the frame... Bent the s**t out of the 1/2 ton frame now going to 1 ton. the worst part is I built the truck from the ground up 2 years ago

Gonna have it done in time to come to Blazer Bash with me next fall? I am trying to get a few other K5s to come too ;)

That includes you Wrench, George Pimpdaddy, Sired by Fire :haha:

Cleaning the garage, thats the hardest thing I have found since I bought the Jimmy.

Need to get off my lazy A and get to it

Cleaning up the frame and underside of the body to repaint. For some reason I decided to take the whole thing apart to wire brush and repaint when doing a body swap, and now 2 years later its still that way. And x3 for cleaning that damn glue off the fenderwells.
