plus, i gotta do some burn outs to make branndon proud..

dude, with that much motor, your doubling my HP and maybe even my TQ.... your are in a leage way above me! wow. There's a 496 on ebay that makes like 1300hp on 92 octain that I wish I could buy... but its 15 grand.. lol

The new Vettes will run 11's off the showroom floor. I have to think it would take quite a bit of power to put a K5 in that category.

TQ ain't that high on this motor. 700 lb ft +/- 10 up to 5500 then it tapers off.

The PO said he had about 12k into this motor. I got the whole car including a $3500 tranny for 6200 bucks. I call that a deal. Particularly when I sell the tranny, the extra parts and the chassis I should come real close to break even while keeping the motor!! :deal:

Even with the power, I gotta agree with tiger, I don't see a lifted K5 keeping pace with a vette. I'm not going to talk any smack until I run it. Then you'll hear all about it. :D

i tried that calc thing and it said 13.5'ish, I doubt my rig runs taht fast, maybe high 14's...

Wow, my 88 TBI 454 will do 18.09 at 75mph according to that. I would think it does a little better than that but maybe not.

I meant the older z06 vettes... skyisthelimit could show one of them his rear bumper in a 1/4 mile no problem but the c6 zo6 is a whole nother beast... 2900 pound car with 500 hp aluminum sb BONE stock... I love you gm.

Yeah try one of the hp calculators though... Its ALOT more accurate. Says with my 5500 pound truck it would take about 430 hp to run 14.8's or so which seem a whole hell of a lot more accurate than 13.5. And don't forget those things don't even factor in tq. I would say I'd be able to pull off a 14.5 with my tq curve, converter, and 4.88 gears.

;) My motor will be making around 400 lb. ft. (at the crank) before it gets rebuilt but not much better than a small block in the horsepower department. HP means zip if it can't hustle off the line.

16.0 @ 85 mph, with a 2.08 60' time.

79 K5, 454 and 40" tires.

since you have a 60 foot time I'm assuming that is an actual time... am I right?

by the way 2.08 is rippin it up for a rig period not to mention one with 40"s... got to love tq...What kind of numbers are you making? What gears?

with 800+ hp i would definitely go with a built 4L80E. i know built 700r4's can be pretty strong, but 800hp with a 5k lb + im not sure it will last long. at least look into a 4L80E, or even the th400 u got plus an overdrive kit.

Yes that is actual time.

No idea what kind of hp/tq numbers it produces, it's a 10 to 1 454 with a crane hydraulic in the .570 range. Headers, Holley 750 etc.....

TH350 with a fairly loose 11" converter (stalls around 2500) and 4.88 geared 14b ff.

I looked at the 4L80E which when built is supposed to take up to 1200hp. They have a full manual setup for them too which is what I want. Catch is, they're $3k. :eek1:

By the time I got the TH400 in with either a 205 tcase or adapter for my 208 and an OD kit, i'd probably be in the $1k range and I wouldn't have the 400 to sell for big $$.

I'm just gonna run the 700 to get it back on the road and then figure something out when it smokes. I'll be gentle....

EDIT: Bah. just looked at a few OD kits.. too much $$ for my blood. I'm just going to have the 700 built. i'll have to talk my transmission guy. maybe i can trade the 400 i got for a 4l80e.

250 hp 350/700R4 2.72 gears and 31 inch tires I ran 18.2 :haha: :rotfl: don't remember the speed somewhere in the 70's. now it's got 400 hp and 44's. the calculator says high 14's and I went high on the weight. I might have to find out for real now.

i would guess right around the same numbers, about 450 torque, but i'm not 100% sure cause tranny people don't seem to know what torque is. Most tranny guys seem to build mainly for cars not trucks.

Well I'm pretty sure you can build a 700 to handle some big power but 800 is th400 teritorry. Oh yeah they run th400's in monster trucks... were talking 1500 hp insane torque HUGE tires and massive shocks to the drivetrain... It all depends on how the tranny is built not so much which tranny.
