What's your favorite pre-2000 Chevy car that can be used as a DD?

Yeah. It adds about 150 pounds. But they are light enough that adding a few hundred out front to balance it wouldn't be a big deal. An aluminum ls would be cool. 3800 would be fun too.

He said sc3800.
That's supercharged 3.8

Dude, I couldn't put a case of beer under the hood of my Fiero. I'm not sure where one would stuff extra weight in under there. Maybe make a concrete casting of the space saver spare and bolt it in.

That being said, driving a Fiero on snow is a very sketchy thing to do. It will swap ends if you sneeze wrong. I grew up driving rwd cars on snow in Colorado and driving the Fiero on snow had me rethinking my choices in cars. I parked it for the winter and drove my g-body Malibu (78 rwd) in the winter instead.

I know. I didn't feel that typing the SC part again was necessary to show that I agree lol.
I just like to say it.:pimp:
I would like to some day find a supercharger for the 3.8, I already have the crate engine. Then I need to figure where to put it.
I was planning on putting it in my 65 corvair coupe for a mid engine configuration but looks like I am getting it sold so...

I have a couple 3.8 blowers laying around... would sell them if the right price came about...

Lol. I was browsing YouTube and this popped up... Probably because I looked at some v8 fiero drag vids earlier.

See I am in your shoes I am looking for the deal:pimp:
No one said it wouldn't be a deal .. I guess it depends on what you think is a deal?
They don't go for much, about $150

What did you think they are worth?

Never tried to look.
It's just the way you posted sounds like you were getting ready for a big pay day :dunno:
Let's talk about this.
I only have a long block crate engine.
I will take it to pm

Oh no. I've seen them on eBay for 150 and up. The cheapest one now is 259. I wouldn't be looking to get rich or a big payday, I was just meaning I wasn't going to sell for 10 bucks shipped just because it's only a 3.8 super.

I'll tell you from your last post, if you only have the long block, I don't have the lower intake manifold for it. Just the upper supercharger. So you might be better off trying to source the whole unit.

I'd take a Vega or Monza over a Chevette anytime. Kind of moot as all three are pretty hard to find anymore. I had 5 Vega's at one point, two running, one was my DD. I had a Chevy 90 degree V6 (229 cid) with a better cam and small Holley 4 barrel, saginaw 4 speed in the DD. It was super fun, cheap on gas, and went around corners decently. My DD Vega was a '71, and had to be a pretty early production version as it came with a three speed manual. Probably the only three speed manual Vega I ever saw. I got it for $38 (outstanding towing bill) from my girlfriends Dad. It had 31,000 miles on it and a blown engine.

A while back I brought up that a Chevette was for sale near my house. Well, the owners finally got a title for the car in the ad and they are doing a jank auction-type thing Saturday morning.

Just a couple of questions for you all:
  1. Do any CK5 members in the Denver area have the ability to transport a vehicle like that (I would pay whatever you considered fair)?
  2. I am thinking that I could get the white manual Chevette for dirt cheap. I thought I'd put in an offer of $700. Do you guys agree or think that's too low or too high?

Off topic, but I think that way of selling a car off Craigslist is horseshit and wouldn't go near them. I have had seller's play me like that before. F them.
That is all.

Yeah it sorta pisses me off, too. I got an e-mail from the estate lawyer letting me know they had titles, and I'm pretty sure the lawyer wrote the Craigslist ad. Bums me out. But if I can get it cheap then great.

Um, shitty sales tactics aside you can't be serious about buying a chevette right?

You know there's a pretty good reason why you don't see them on the road anymore. They were garbage back then and still are now. Even more with a lack of parts availability. They were throwaway cars. Most have been crushed and reincarnated as Kia's or Hyundai's.

There are better beaters to buy than a chevette. Sorry to be harsh but it had to be said. I'd hate for you to dump money into that POS that will never be able to recoup it.

@ZooMad75 I saw your earlier post but maybe didn't realize just how bad they are . It's hard to imagine anything being as shoddily put together as my Mitsubishi . I was coming from the mindset of cheap manual RWD project that I could get up and running for minimal $$. If they're as bad as you say, I will absolutely stay away. Just got excited with the prospect of cheap manual to play with.

Edit: Also no apology necessary I seriously appreciate you looking out .

Early 80's anything gm or otherwise has questionable build quality. Cheap plastics on the inside, crappy carbs, miles of vacuum lines and a very anemic 4 banger that lacks any level of power or torque to pull even the slightest hill.

You'd be better off going after a 90's S10 if you want a manual rwd. At least you can get parts for them.

I almost got killed in a Diesel chevette in college too, so my level of hate for those cars might be more than average.

Yes they put a diesel in them. Garbage x 2.
