Got my 350 pulled about 3 weeks ago, was finally able to go pick it up this morning (had some issues being able to pick it up due to some drama). Upon closer inspection I found there are about 3 teeth that are pretty fubar'ed, and it looks as if the last installer pounded on the output with something steel instead of brass :eek1:

My adapter for the 205 I pulled last summer in preparation for this won't fit now.

All the sponsors have only the conversion shafts of various sorts, and I can't seem to find one anywhere else except on Amazon or Ebay. No thank you. I'd like to buy from somewhere that lists the specs a bit better/reliably and/or somewhere I can go LOOK at it if they don't. Any of you guys have any ideas?

4x4 Heaven

Both of these are great. I have used them both for the excact reason you are. They will know what you are talking about & you can be confident that you will recieve the correct part.

Transtar, Cal-Tex and Slauson transmission parts companies, all in California, will all be able to provide this shaft for you as well. There are only two 4x4 stock shafts for the 350, one very short for 203/205 applications, and the other a long shaft for 208 applications. If your splines look pretty good except for the ends, you can clean them up with a good file, they aren't as hard as you might imagine.

Every time I try to get hold of Transtar out here it's a no go. I think the only one around me is a distributor only (shop accounts and such).

I figured they were tough-as-nails hardened steel so I never even tried a file

That is exactly what is wrong, the ends are a bit messed up on three teeth that got either hit hard with something, or it got set down on the shaft when it was apart. The low part of the valleys have the edges folded up right on the end.

In that case I think I'll grab a file tomorrow morning and try to clean it up until the adapter fits, then send it off. I just need to get it taken care of (whether I can fix it or have to buy one) before I send it off to be rebuilt.
