You might want to check again cash for cluncker has put a lot of cars into the wrecking yards. about 80% of the cars at my local wrecker were cash for clunckers.that sure is purty. ahhh coolness. I am still hunting for mine![]()
They are really easy to find up here. I think I saw 4 other ones when I found this one. Also easy to find on craigslist but I think they must be in love with their axles. People are asking $300 for 14 bolt SF axles in my area even though they can be had for $109 at the wrecking yard. I don't get it.....oh well can't expect everyone to understand supply and demand.
I'm in beaverton but I got my axle from LKQ in portland.where in oregon are you?
well went ahead and got mine last weekend - 400 bucks. just got the 14 bolt sim kit from Ruff Stuff - totally heavy duty & the guy was cool. I highly recomend buying from them. I'll post the pics here later
tomorrow gotta start to cut and grind the old mounts off. this is gonna suck.

I'm curious as to how you got your pinion out.

When I was rebuilding my 10-bolt rear, I just put the whole axle housing in my shop press, pinion nose facing up. Then I just pressed the bastard out...
The 10-bolt was light enough to do that with since everything, including the brakes, was removed for the rebuild.
I'm an engineer and I got a kick out of a 5lb sledge hammer being called an engineering hammer lol! 3 smacks and it popped right out.Haha thats funny! I used a 5 lb engineering hammerI'm an engineer and I got a kick out of a 5lb sledge hammer being called an engineering hammer lol! 3 smacks and it popped right out.
I have no intention of removing the front axle when I pull those gears out. I'd like to save the 4.56 gears so I can put them in my old rear 10 bolt. Maybe someone can make some use out of that 10 bolt. I'm a little worried about sticking a 5.13 in a 10 bolt front axle though. That pinion has got to be tiny. But since I dont do any heavy duty 4 wheeling I'm hoping it will last. I intend to leave the front free wheel and since the rear will be locked it shold carry most of the load.
Ah... I had to do it several times since I was trying to set up the gears.

coolness - how long did that take you? I have to do mine as well and figure it is best to do it before i install the axle. the 1 i bought has 3.73 gears ( supposedly ) and i am running 35's. I think i want to go 4.56......
