im finalizing my axles swap and im down to the brake lines. i know i need new lines anyways because the old ones are about to crack. so my question is what brand do people prefer(does not have to be stainless steel) my prob is which year do i buy since my truck is an 87 and the axles are 77's:confused: looking to get front and rear

thanks you made my day. i bought some new 1977 model year part number whatever calipers for the swap and i just got off the phone with ORD and it looks like i have to use the 7/16" banjo.
should i get the 10"-12" lines or the regular extended lines i have 6" lift. its only few more bucks

if you kept the 87 calipers it will be metric and get the appropriateline.if you used the 3/4 ton from 77 get the standard brake line and extended length if you need for lift.i posted as you were i guess and you got what you need.the extra length lines would need to be roughted s it wont be tochin anything that moves.just tell them the lift you have and im sure they will get you the ones you need.i would go for 8 inches over stock so you will get more movement out of he axle when you articulate over rocks.

just tell them what ya got for lift and get the ones in that range.

unless you got a super flexy front suspension like super built rock crawlers.

ill just get the 7/16" 4-6 inch lift lines since i dont plan on going any higher. also i got new 77' calipers and they read 7/16" on every parts store i can find so i think i got the winning ticket dudes. thanks

Don't always count on the caliper being what it is "supposed" to be. I'm sure you bought rebuilt calipers and not new and they commonly get misboxed as the banjo bolt sizing is the only difference. VERIFY for yourself what the calipers are before you go buying new brake lines.

Also, I always like to buy parts for the year of the vehicle when at all possible to keep from having to remember what is what down the road if you need to replace anything.
