White letter tires vs. Blackwall

Had that happen once...when they put BFG AT's on my Ranger instead of the Mud Kings I came in for.

Tire Shop Tool - "Here's your truck coming around now."

Me - "Why are the white letters out?..."

TST - (looking at papers) "Oh, uhm...we must hav..."
(truck comes to a complete stop and I actually look at the tires)
Me - "WHY ARE THERE BFG AT'S ON MY RANGER!"

TST - "We had trouble getting the Mud Kings but these are great tires and made by the same company."

Me - "I don't want any #$%^&*ing AT's!"

TST - "Oh..." (Scurries back to his manager while I stand there FUMING.)

They offer to sell me the BFG's for the price of the Mud Kings. No.
They offer to get me a ride to work and they'll put the tires on the next day. No.
They offer to put my old baldish 31's back on and get me the Mud Kings ASAP. BINGO.

Luckily for all involved after some frantic calling on their part they found another store with enough Mud Kings to make me a set.

While later guy takes the keys from me again and as he's heading towards the door:

Me - "BLACKWALLS OUT!"

Three TSTs - "Put the MUD KINGS on lettering IN!

JESUS H. CHRIST! Turn the contrast down! You hit the ultraviolet sprectrum....

either that or there is a crack in the sky....

somebody was up too late last night...

Hey dont be hatin on the Van!!!! If I dont contrast the living S*** out of it you would be able to see all the scratches!!! And nobody wants that lol

I've seen nature specials on bees...and that looks like how they see things...in the ultraviolet spectrum...

I had a very similar workvan back in the day... thing was a freakin hotrod, 350 4 barrel... fun gas-sucker that was! :woot:

back on topic, white letters bring the ghey!!!! :woot: :haha:

should be a poll, seems the white letter crowd is outnumbering the blackwall crowd...

ok...just exactly what is it you are trying to hide from us? Is that a GMC "Abductor" Series van....If I open that van, what will I find inside?

Even vans used in crimes should have blackwall out :haha:

Don't you guys know dark colors make things look smaller and light colors make things look larger??? Art 101?:dunno: White letters out bigger tire, blackwalls out smaller tire.

I also think it matters on how large the white letters are, I have seen some where they are huge, others are smaller and not quite so intrusive to the tire look.... Also raised outlined white letters I think look better than the solid letters on most rides.

I did have smaller raised solid white letters out on some Roadhuggers that were on my Nova awhile back, it fit the car well with the size of the tires, not low profiles.

The current ride I have been driving around in has 20 some inch wheels, but the overall height of the tire & wheel combo is the same as stock, so the tires have a shorter sidewall. They are blackwall out and look good.

I think there is a vehicle type, look and happy medium for tire size for them to look right and fit the particular look of the vehicle...

"bringing the ghey"?? i think that's alittle harsh of a statement :D

it goes against my roots... it clutters the look imo... on any vehicle... it actually makes a tire look smaller to me... blends the body to the rim more, as opposed to a nice crisp black breaking it up.. I actually think it takes away from the lines of the car..

the thought of white letters on any of these saddens me.. :haha:

:waytogo:

I think it depends on the vehicle too...Paul your right any of those cars wouldn't look right.

but you know whats worse?:

This one seems right to me:

definitely black letters out.i never liked the white letter look and if you dont keep em clean they look even worse.

i like white walls on trucks, they look bad on cars. some cars look good with white walls, mainly big buicks, cadillacs, mercurys and lincolns.

I dont think it matters car or truck. There is deffinetly a place for both. I even find wide white walls look great on the right vehicle. It all depends on what its going on, color of vehicle, rim choice, etc. We've seen a lot of good and bad examples of both here though:waytogo:

I actually learned a fact that I did not know....when tires are made, apparently the rubber is naturally white...they add black carbon to color the tire black...if that's the case...one day we will see awful ugly designer color tires...just wait and see...

they already have ones with color'd stripes built inton them for color'd smoke burnouts.
