Who’s done it? - Cable shifter NP203/205 Doubler

I looked at my Blazer at lunch, I measured 4-7/8”~5” from the floor pan to the center line of the output shaft.

Note:

I have a 1” body lift

My measurement happens to be inline with the front seat, rear mounting nuts on the floor.

I have a stock ‘87 Blazer frame, flat pre ‘85 1/2 ton crossmember and a tall figure 8 style doubler adapter.

Don’t judge me by my greasy floor pan.

Are you talking about the drivetrain angle? The output flange should be about 3%.
Ok. I'll get an angle finder and see if that can get me close. I was just trying to get an idea of how close the top of the cases were to the floor.

I just saw the pictures.....that helps! Thanks

@Jumppr there could be major differences in our floor pans based on years (your ‘75 vs my ‘91), I can get a similar measurement from the bottom of the frame up to the output shaft if needed.

@nvrenuf i have a long flat crossmember out of the 99-00 OBS that i snatched the transmission from. If that doesn’t work I’ll fab something up.

Because I don’t have one of those. The one off the 99 came with the transmission when I bought it.
I have a few.
Do you ever travel north?
I do go to dunlap early April if you still can use it

Thanks. I’ll let you know but I think I’m going to try and come up with something custom. I’ve got a friend that has built a few trucks with doublers and access to metal.

Looks like I can lengthen the stock crossmember a few inches and make it work beautifully. However I am gonna have to cut the floor and do some modifications since I can’t get the rear of the case high enough to get that -3 degree angle.

Mine is close but I didn’t have to cut the floor to fit the tcase, you shouldn’t have to.
My tcase is clocked up 2” so I did cut the side of the tunnel to fit the cable shifter parts.

I got my adapter from Jed’s Machining years ago and it has two mounting positions. I’m not sure what it’s at now so I’ll take it out and try the other before I start cutting.

Are you running a 1” body lift? Might be something to consider if you need a little bit. My 205 is flat and I clear the c20 cab with a 1” body lift.
Ooh that’s a good idea I hadn’t even considered! I need to replace the body mounts anyway. Thanks!

Would 2” look stupid?

I think 2" is fine.
I had 3" on a wagoneer and it was ok but a bit much.
I have a set of 2" that I plan on using on my crew cab

I would keep at 1”. ORD sells the aluminum pucks with bolts. If you’re running stock rubber you might pickup a little more from new poly mounts.
