who's got eldorado calipers on 14BFF? who doesn't?

So basically, if your crap rolls down a hill while parked, and hits something, then you could be cited. Or if you had to get a brake and light inspection to bring your rig back from salvage status (totaled out by ins co), it won't pass. Otherwise, nobody gives a damn.

The cop who pulls you over for something and has a reason to check EVERYTHING on your rig will give you a ticket if it is not working, ask me how i know.

Never had to deal with any of that in my 20 years of driving in Cali. Must just be some oddball insurance games.:screwy: I've never had an ins co ask for an inspection on any of my vehicles, and most of my crap is old.:dunno:

If I remember right, it was for vehicles older than 20 years and was called a safety inspection. I had to have it done when adding on a new vehicle to the policy, but not every year, and it was only with one insurance company. I switched companies a lot back then so I don't remember the name of the place, but it was about 12-15 years ago. I've only been driving for 22 years so it's definately not a common requirement, but a possibility to be aware of.

No biggie, just like the prick that wrote me for my trailer ball blocking the license plate in my stock bumper. Just get it signed and pay the $17. The vast majority don't even know about checking the e-brake, like the one that wrote me for the ball and didn't know what kind of vehicle I was driving. He asked if it was a blazer, when I was driving ans10 pickup with nothing even on the bed of it to confuse him.:doah:

To pass state safety inspection in Texas it has to be a separate mechanical system,,

or a totally separate hydraulic system.

And the means ALL components...
separate calipers,,lines, hoses, fittings, brackets,,,master cylinder with a separate fluid supply. Everything.

A common tag for those who tow. I've seen some just put the ball upside down on the bumper and problem solved. Also, some cops are not big on car models and it isn't their hobby. Others very much are and will ask questions that seem odd just to see what your response is.

Up here we cannot have a ball in the the receiver hitch which extends past the bumper (when not towing), $500 fine. I guess it puts nice holes in car bumpers, hoods, rads, etc. when they rear end you.

I would say that is dumb. Why not fine the person who rear ended you???

You'd be surprised how many states where that is illegal, just never enforced. Its illegal here in Oregon too, but I always drive around with mine in the hitch and have never been pulled over for it.

Reason why i use it, my trucks a little taller in the rear, and i wanna make sure i have that perfect KO and take their radiator with me!

But dads hitch is a fixed drop down receiver (not removable) so would that violate your laws?

Fixed reciever or fixed ball hitch?

Would depend on what it looks like i guess, not sure.

Saw a new model mustang rear end a pickup with a drop receiver hitch....and 3 balls on it....when the dude pulled the pick up off the freeway it pulled the guts out of the front of the stang....wasn't pretty....:D

I liked it when i was living in an apartment and some jackass decided to pull right up to my rear bumper and leave me little to no room to get out, i just threw it in reverse and pushed my receiver/ball right up the center of his hood. I'll bet he NEVER makes that mistake again. :haha:

E-Brakes?

We don't use them up north. Once you put them on, they don't go off. At the most we make it look like they work, cables connected to no-where.
If I can ever find some burb 14 bolts for my cucv, I'll look into the rotor conversion, my 10 bolts aren't worth the trouble. I did just rebuild my front end, as it was froze up from sitting. Mine is an 86 and had 3,500 miles on it last year when I bought it.

Im not running an Ebrake, havent needed it yet...
