cornfed what do u mean by eaton? is that a custom rear axle? ive never heard of it
u already got my vote i was just wondering if u could please explain it
thanks good luck if u get in!! awesome truck!!!

Th eaton rearend is technically the HO72. It came factory in 3/4 and 1 ton GMs from '46 to '72. Its a full floater axle with a drop out 3rd member and removable cover. Its course spline axles and available from the factory in 4.10, 4.56 and 5.13 ratios and factory detroit lockers as an option ( called a no-slip ). Its cheaper to buy complete rearends than replacement parts as they're outrageous in price. 14 bolt disc conversions are interchangeable and some guys swap out the axles and locker for 14 bolts pieces too, I dont know why you would want to though:D

Boy, that thing is beat compared to when I saw it last May. Now I am glad I built this K5 sans fenders and doors!

Actually it's just a different color. Depending on how you look at it, there actually are LESS dents in it now than there were in May of 2004, since the majoity of the dents came from a flop in September of '03, and I have since replaced the bed.
