why does my 383 suck? >> now a crack??

not to be the bringer of doom but, you had sign's of water in there, sure it was the intake and not the crack?

desperate to get home from outta state? I'd put it back together and run it.... at my house, with a DD'er in reserve? no question... new mill, even if I had to wait a bit for finances...

imo, it's throwing good labor at a losing proposition to do any bandaiding.....keep in mind, cooling system's run under pressure, if it's a cooling passage it WILL fail at some point..

instant milkshake! :haha:

yeah... I think it's new motor time. :(

It doesn't cost me anything to slap it back together with new gaskets (already opened the box :doah:) so I'll do that and run it while I work on a new mill...

It sucks... but honestly I was looking for an excuse to put a new motor in it anyway. :pimp:

Get that carb off there and yes

Had one of these sitting next to a 572 bbc at the hot rod power tour last year. I could believe how much smaller it was and had like identical power IIRC. Or damn close.
