Why to convert to coil over

Thanks... but holy f is that expensive. That cost more than my truck did. Hahahah

The good news is that statement came out of your mouth instead of 'I just put it on my Visa'.

I'll also wager to bet not many of us here are very wealthy. What I do is save my pennies every single year to save up for the winter modifications. So while some people have looked at my truck and said 'there's a cubic shit ton of money in it', I never really thought of it that way as it was small amounts of water over the dam spread out over years.

I can also say this, the ORD stuff is pretty much some of the best prices around. They are very humble when it comes to their pricing, hence why they've been in business so long.

thats exactly what I do man I save and buy I’m not rich by any means when I bought my truck I was 18 for a $1000 bucks first car I ever bought and saved up for that at the time too . Kinda hard to upgrade anything without spending a thousand anymore was my point .

I believe jake jumped it a few times and cracked the rear of the frame. I think it's getting a new frame as well as a whole new suspension front and rear.

@sreidmx
@ktmoutfront
He actually broke the frame right at the firewall, peeled the bumpcans out from the frame and bent a host of other parts.. no cage and no plate work don’t mix with super hard abuse.. it was a prototype to see if it would work, it works so well it didn’t feel like it was hurting the truck or say he sayssss... lol he told me he didn’t let off for anything.. so unless you build your truck like wade did with the structure up front and the whole cage tied in it will break the truck apart in short order..

That sounds like a good time! Lol

Meh, factory springs and Bilsteins seem to be ok

I can’t run full tilt through the desert, but works well offroad. Works really well on the street

Yeah.
You don't have to spend all that money to have fun, that is after all why we do this right?
I don't think I will ever get away from the leaf springs unless I want to some day make my own setup and I have plenty of money and time.
:haha:
Like that is ever going to happen. :surepal:

Especially since you, like me, have lots of little people to worry about!

If you want to keep the stock fuel tank you only get about 4" back from stock. Like @Tnsejed said, the real weight and balance gains are in pushing the front forward but you're not there now. I'd keep the rear push mild so that when you do the front you can push it a bunch and keep the wheelbase around 115-ish. Actually that is exactly what I did.
Good to know I’m sure you’ll get a call from me at some point lol . This is my first time doing a link setup a little gun shy but I think I’ll be fine .

Yup because the frames on our trucks are about as strong as a wet noodle.

I also want to say as a guy that built his link setup from scratch, buy the damn kit. If I were to do it again I would for sure buy a kit.

I've only looked at it briefly, but adding up the price of all the parts to build a link suspension (and not just the big ticket items, but all tubing, brackets, bolts, etc.) and comparing that to the ORD kit, it would be like paying myself $0.10 an hour on design and fabrication.

That's what the kit does spread the design effort on hundreds of kits to help pay for it.
Mass production is always cheaper, not always exactly what you want but if close enough it's worth it

It's not bad. The kit is super worth it. Even if you only used half the brackets, still worth it. I started with the ORD front on my truck, and while it has all changed over the years still worth it. Hell I even bought another panhard mount to cut up and modify. There is so much time saved in bracketry, or modifying brackets its not funny. My truck sits inside my machine shop so when I work on it I always think about the hours... haha!

Also keep in mind, the springs you ordered with the kit may not be the springs you end up with. This is just the nature of springs. So budget for another set.

How much do you estimate you moved the front forward?
Did you have to move the steering box?

I assume move rear back 2" and front forward 6.5" results in 115" wheelbase.
Does the steering box need to move forward even with crossover steering?

Moving the front 6.5" definitely needs relocation of the steering box.
If you move it 12-14" you might be ok with flipping the arm backwards and having it go the opposite way but the 6.5" puts you right in alignment with box shaft.
