I thought they were like $5k a set....... NO WAY are they worth $20k....barely worth $5k to me

Seriously, I've had as many ifs problems as anyone. Stock, 4wd ifs isn't any worse than your 2wd ifs. Larger tires, offroading, and high mileage is what kills ifs. With dd 4wd duty, you'd have no ifs issues

My problems werent limited to IFS failure, but it was a bi- monthly thing. The truck was lowered from the factory (It an SSC version) and has 20" rims from the factory (common now but not as common then)
It has cause alignment issues, which have worn out parts at an exponential rate.
I have already rebuilt the front differential, Installed a complete rear end (the old one blew at 85k miles), The heads cracked (made in canada), just did the knock sensors, all shocks, idler arm, pitman arm, tie rods, ball joints, wheel bearings, tires, all the pulleys and belts, intake gaskets and even had to figure out how to secure the bed after installing a body lift and the welded nuts all snapped and u cant get to them..
I really really Ideally want either a 3500 dodge dually or an old k30/blazer but again i dont want the price tag or the 3 years to repair one

So then why are you looking at 1500 V6 2wd trucks?

Price tag, average price for a 2004 DODGE 3500 is $20k+
Price of an older chevy in fair shape $4000 and rising + the cost of repair/ rebuild
Fuel bill, a v-6 2wd gets a hell of alot better fuel economy then any diesel or V-8 4WD
and since im not made of money Its practical.
and you say "why not save", well sure i could but how long would it take you to save $20k for a truck? or $4k-$6k and then not be able to work on it because your on the road Hauling for a living....
again-- the 2wd saves fuel and money, and a lift is half the price if that of a 4wd lift kit, and i can afford a $200 truck payment over a $500-$600 truck payment (and then not be able to do anything else to it- cause im broke)
and i can put the lift on in a couple of hours versus a whole weekend or more

the lift has no real purpose other then it makes the truck level
Would you consider something smaller like an S10? The 4cyl 5 speeds get mid to upper 20 mpgs and are reliable as dirt. Plus one in good shape is easy to find for short money.

At that point id probably get a ranger..probably an older one--older then 1995.. but then again they might need work....Hell an old 1985 toyota pick up would be great, but if there not rusted and broken down then there like a gazillion dollars

1st) Based the post on a truck for fuel economy
2nd) I put the 2wd Dodge, because its a truck I used to own and know that it had super fuel economy
3rd) confused about why I NEED a lift? I dont, but I cant stand truck rake and no vehicle goes unmodified for very long, (and its helluva lot cheaper on a 2wd then any 4wd)-even if there is no purpose to lift a 2wd
4th) I mention what i would ideally want or wish i could have more for informational and comparison of prices.
