Wiper arm mounted washer hose?

Just picked some Gates 27045. It's obviously a bit bigger OD than what I assume to be the O.E., but it does fit and appears to be identical to what I had on the 2nd wiper. At $.99/ft, it's maybe the best value option without buying a big roll, as 1.5' does the pair.

Installation is easy if you take the spring out of the wiper. It pinches a bit, but air goes through and like I said, the other wiper has been this way for years.

I assume installation would be a PITA with the wiper arm and spring installed.

Yeah when I buy replacement small hoses OD is always more than OEM, I guess thicker is better in most cases, here however thicker means harder to route through the wiper arm.

Do we think GM had that size specifically made? Just based on looks it appears to me the entire hose is "undersized" as you can see how much it expands to fit over the connection.

It would certainly have made it a lot quicker and easier to route through the wiper arms for production vs. what we can find size-wise today.

The Anco 78-764 kit is <$15 on eBay and has both 3/32" and 7/64" i.d. tubes included (72" each). It looks like the Continental part number is 65109. I'm going to try getting Gates 27045 at Orielly. If that works, it's only about $3 to do both wiper arms and mine are already off.
The few Continental hoses I have handle, are crap, I will not use if I can find an alternative.
