I am sick to death of hearing this from people that have never drove a lifted truck in the hills so lets figure this out. With my 9" of lift and 39.5" tires, I dont think I have ever been in a situation where I thought "Gee, If I was just 2" lower, I would be safe!" With wider tires how much of a difference does it really make? I'm not saying that it doesnt make it more topheavy, but some of the opinions I've heard are way exaggerated. What do you guys think and who else has had to listen to this?

i always ignore ppl who "KNOW MORE" than I do . /forums/images/graemlins/rolleyes.gif
lower and wider is better , most of the time . adjustable would be even better .....

Me and 79Beast both have about 8" of lift. I'm running 39.5s and he has 44s. We both climb some pretty serious hills and I've yet so see one of us almost flip over. Yes, the CG is much higher than stock, but we're both used to it. I've heard the same thing before-- "I wouldn't drive that 'cause it looks like it'll flip over." Well you don't drive it so shut up already. I've been in plenty of off-camber situations, too and haven't had any problems yet because I have a pretty wide track width.

I think you need to get rid of those big honkin tires and buy some 31" radials, much better for the street. /forums/images/graemlins/rotfl.gif

Ouch, I should post a pic of it now. I've got 28" tires on stock rims on it now so it would fit in the Garage! /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif

I personally try to keep my truck as low as possible, just high enough to clear the tires that I want to run. I was on 6" and 38s, I will be on about 7.5-8" and 42s. Wider is better to a point, but I try to keep my truck fairly narrow so I don't have too much trouble squeezing through tight spots. It also helps when I'm mudding so the mud stays off the windsheild to some extent. It's nice to be able to see where I'm going. /forums/images/graemlins/thumb.gif

well, technically, my rig with 6" of lift would be more stable than your with 9". but that is purely academic.

Each vechile is different. I don't wheel with a top or tailgate, so i am less top heavy, but i have to lateral stability as i am running blown rear shocks and no sway bar.
that is not to say my rig is "more extreeeeme" than any one elses. i know what my Junk will do. So while other peoples comfort levels might be incompatible with your set up, you are fine with it.

Just drive any ford suv and then see how well the Blazer handles. The body roll in those pieces of crap is terrible.

Hey man i have rolled mine over with a 4 inch lift. /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif all the way on to the top.

it all depends on how long you drive your k5. the longer the better and you'll start to know your limits.

i'm about 7" with 39's so i'm 2" safer that you /forums/images/graemlins/rolleyes.gif /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif
