WIX and NAPA GOLD

Why not just buy Wix directly? When you buy a rebrand you may not get what you expect. I get Wix filters from rockauto.
I don't have anywhere local that sells WIX and I liked being able to just swing by NAPA when I needed one instead of having to order them and wait.

In some reading last night, it seems Fram's Ultra filters are performing the best in testing down to 15 micron. May be time to give the orange can another try since they're readily available locally?

When engine masters did a test a few years back, the K&N gold was the best. I think Wix was 3rd

Here's the thread. K&N wasn't in the test but the Fram did perform.

I was actually referring to S6E5, engine masters does their own test

Dyno test in relation to micron filtration, and how it affects the lubrication. Part of their concern was that you can have the filter this do too much i.e. too restrictive in it actually hurts oil flows through the engine, causing premature wear in order to give you higher filtration.

Unfortunately, because their episodes are listed through Amazon prime, they’re not usually available on YouTube

Carquest filters are made by Baldwin. They are good filters, I run them on all my company trucks. Cat also sells Baldwin as an alternative for their filters.

Thus is an important design element. You do not want the oil filter restricting to much flow.
How many remember the old Fram HP1 filters? Before the Belgium buy out, that filter had 11 large inlet holes, after was reduced to 9 smaller holes.
A filter is going to reduce flow, that's its nature, but a well designed filter will have a minimal effect.
Going to check out that episode. Be nice to someone do the flow aspect, plenty of quality vids on yt

Fyi the engine master's show are available on Discovery Plus and seem Max has them too.

I was surprised the the flow variance wasn't larger, my take away would then revert back to the filter quality. I am only going to run the $$$ K&N gold on the 77 burb and the air cooled buggy. I do have a K&N silver on the 8.1 I bought a few a while back.
My take away not going to be to concerned about flow for the dailies, only that it is a decent quality filter.

I have 4 NAPA Gold filters in my garage for different applications.

A couple of years ago before I retired from my job at NAPA Auto Parts, while I could still get my discount, I bought six oil changes for my flat tappet Chevy 350. I bought six NAPA Gold PN#1061, and 6-cases of Valvoline VR1 20-50 racing oil before that oil is discontinued. All six of my PN#1061 filters say Made in USA.

I remember back in the late 70's and 80's when Allied Signal owned FRAM filters, and they where made in the USA. They where considered the best filter on the market. I used them all the time on my 1968 C20 Suburban, 1970 SS Chevelle, 1970 Buick GS Skylark 455, 1969 Plymouth GTX 440 six pack, 1971 Ford Ranchero GT 351 Cleveland, and a couple of Pontiac GTO's with 400 cubic inch motors that I flipped for a profit back when those kind of cars could be had for a $1000 or less.
