Spools aren't that bad, and in a 14 can be swapped in in under an hour or replaced with a locker later when you get money. I only have detroits though so I am going off other buddies spool experience. Orange_Rock you will need need a different locker since you have a 14sf not a 14ff.

Mine has a bungie cord holding it down haha. Can't wait to see this thing in action.
My spool is much better with more air pressure in the tires for street driving. I'd still go with the Detroit if I had money to spend.
This has been fun to watch. I'd say my persistence in calling Martin a unicorn has paid off.

Nope, giant piece of shit. Top post batteries are just such an awful, awful, horrible, terrible, stupid, dumb design compared to side posts, that it makes me angry when booger eating morons swap them over.

I think the key there is not trying to use the standard side post battery bolt and just using a longer bolt with a nut.
GM used that 3/8" bolt with a 5/16" head to prevent overtorquing the bolt, and pulling the terminal out of the battery.

Well, not on purpose. It already had top post terminals on it, and not knowing much I went the same route when I redid them. I will be changing that soon, as I fight loose cables all the time.

I gotta admit, I'm finding all of these rusty Nebraska longbeds really cool. I'm a little envious actually. Maybe someday I'll get myself a 3rd vehicle.
Its insane how cheap they are here. Its the insurance that keeps me from having a few more.
